I highly recommend overseeding with higher quality grass seed. Stuff that you find at the big box stores works, but if you really want your lawn to pop and perform well, gotta hit the specialty stores

It's clear to me that you don't know what you're doing when you use the absolute worse grass seed imaginable! That stuff is full of weed seed and it's a very low quality seed. It's a contractors mix and it's sole purpose is to help prevent erosion.

When you irrate a lawn, you should leave the plugs because that is the nutrients that the lawn needs to grow thicker.

Question - did you reseed and then wait 3 weeks to put sand down or did you throw the seed down along with the sand? Would pre-germinating the seed help? Or would you not want to do that when making a lawn smooth
