Thank you so much for the resource compilation! I had a friend whose roommate adopted a gecko (her name is Samsung!), but then moved out and left her behind. Because my friend was moving across the country she wasn't able to take care of her either. I don't know much about reptiles but want to ensure Samsung has all the proper gear and stimulation she needs for a long, happy life. I was finding it a bit difficult to navigate and am beyond grateful for a solid starting place. Thank you from Montana! 💕

I'm getting my first leppy, I have a 120 gallon. I have a lot of reptile experience, I'm so excited to get a leppy. I bought a shit ton of dragonstone and cork today so they can climb. I have 5 hides so far. I've had enchanted forest themed enclosured my whole life, this time, it will be desert western themed. Fake cacti, pictures of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne on the walls of the enclosure, fake barbed wire on the PVC frame outside of the tank, small saloons, maybe a breyer horse or two, some fake tumbleweeds, and a bandanna banner on the outside of the enclosure of course. I have no idea what I'm going to name my leppy. I had a bearded dragon named John Wayne about 4 years ago, my great-aunt loved him so I gave him to her. She lives a block away from my house and she rescued a baby bearded dragon a few years ago, now they are both adults. They have their own custom made enclosures with custom foam backgrounds. She is the best beardie owner. I really wanted a ball python so it worked out for both of us. Since she lives close, I'll give her my leftover insects so they don't go to waste since I will only have 1 reptile at the moment. I'm getting my leppy on the 11th and I start college on the 21st (it's 5 minutes from home, I'll still be staying at home until next semester). I'm so excited! I've been used to having a shit ton of animals since I was little so this won't be any issue for me, I'm a pro at multitasking and I'm a nerd, college will be a piece of cake. I have a service dog, a retired service dog, 4 cats, 9 chickens, fish, snails, and soon, a leopard gecko and maybe another tarantula!

I’m currently working on building my leopard gecko a new 4x2x2, her current setup is only slightly smaller and it is cluttered like crazy, so I plan on doing the same for the new enclosure. For this new one I’m also adding half slate half loose substrate (a topsoil and play sand mix) and I’m really excited. My leo is 4 yrs old and her name is Noodle, I’ve had her since she was a juvenile

What you said about the care guide is so true this is my at least 15th care guide and I’ve had one for two years. I like to just take the average of what they all say.

I think it’s important to add that rescuing geckos can come with loss. The only leopard i’ve ever had was a rescue and she was beyond saving all that could be done was giving her the best possible life her last days.

I’ve tried dubia roaches and they dig underground so my gecko can’t get them, what are some alternatives besides crickets that I could feed my gecko in a loose substrate?

Thanks
