C8 Corvette Transmission Filter Replacement with Computerized Flush

EDIT, PLEASE READ:
1. You can also use this scan tool to perform the "Leak test" and GM recommends you do so after completing the filter change. I was 100% sure I did not have a leak so I did not perform the procedure, but you certainly can. The procedure is right next to the electronic flush depicted in this video.

2. Many people want to add fluid back into the transmission after a filter change. I wanted to do so, but even after running the transmission through the gears as recommended in the fluid check procedure, fluid came running out of the fill plug when I removed it. This leads me to believe my transmission was at least slightly over-filled and did not need any fluid added after the filter change.

Watch how I changed the transmission filter on my C8 Z06, INCLUDING how to perform the computerized flush prior to the filter replacement.

I did my filter today. I can confirm you do need to depress brake pedal the whole 8 minutes. NT 510 worked perfect on my 2024 HTC.
Thanks for the video

Great video and tips and thanks for the reference to the tool. Good to be able to do this service myself.

The C8 automatically flushes the fluid as you drive on the road. So the flush is NOT a requirement when changing your DCT filter. GM engineers have stated this already on camera.

Great video and appreciate the reference to the Foxwell tool. Good mentions on the bolts ect, however would also state that do not try and pry off the cap and risk damage to the mating surfaces.

Awesome video. I just watched it yesterday on the Corvette Forum and was hoping you would post it on YouTube.

Thank you for the video, very thorough and detailed. I have seen estimates as high as $1400 to perform this same service from the dealership. Please save all your receipts for proof of service for any warranty claims. Note GM recommends changing the DTC fluid every 3 yrs regardless of mileage, sounds a bit extreme to me for low mileage vehicles but you may void the warranty by not adhering to this recommended service interval.

I just bought a used 2021 c8 and it has 2, 600 miles and should be doing this soon. Thanks for the video

Great Video and I have a 2020 C8, but I just bought a NT510Elite and it DID NOT perform the transmission flush. I followed ALL of the parameters for the test but after I pressed the brake and shifted to neutral like it asked, I got this Information screen that said "Request Rejected by the Control Module
Request Out of Range"

Just a heads up IF you have a 2020 C8.

Thank you! I've been looking for this info. I watched some of your Heartland Park videos a few years ago. I hope I see you at Ozarks International Raceway some day. :)

Can I ask where you picked up the procedure from?

GREAT video !!!! Does anyone know if this will do the C8 Flush Trans Filter on a 2020 C8 with M1L transmission? Thought I'd seen where someone said this tool, and the X431 Elite tool will only work on 2022 or newer for this type of procedure .

I had the one freebee done at the dealer, but have since done ALL my own maintenance including the 3 year DCT fluid change, and I also changed my DCT filter. But I would really like to be able to do the flush procedure as well, if possible.

Just to add some info to your awesome video...
- The Foxwell NT530 scan tool can also perform the flush procedure. It worked on my '24 Z06.
- The scan tool can also perform the transmission pressure check, which you should perform after replacing the filter. This procedure takes about one minute to complete. It also requires a warmed up engine with trans fluid temp above 140 deg F.
 - You DO have to hold your foot on the brake pedal during the entire flush procedure or else it will abort if you lift your foot.
- When removing the DCT filter, you will lose 150 mL or 5oz of DCT fluid. It's a small amount that I won't bother replacing after just one filter replacement. But when I change it next time, I will plan to add back about 10oz of DCT fluid.
- I'm surprised nobody on the forums talks about doing a "flat foot crank" procedure to help fill the oil filter and prime the oil pump after changing the engine oil, before firing up the engine. I do this whenever any of my vehicles sits for more than a week. If you hold the brake and press the accelerator pedal to the floor (full throttle), and then crank the engine, it will NOT start, but it will crank. Most modern vehicles are tuned to do this on purpose, which essentially cuts fuel to the engine so it's getting air but not fuel, so it won't start. If the engine should become flooded with fuel, this procedure helps to clear it out. Hardly necessary with modern fuel injection systems, but if anyone remembers having a carbureted engine, you might have experienced a "flooded" engine. Anyway... I do this procedure (holding throttle down while cranking) to allow the new oil filter to fill up with oil, and to prime the oil pump. I let it crank for about 20 seconds, and then lift my foot off the throttle, and it fires up.

I can't say for a fact that it works but watched another video about changing the DCT filter and they only loosened the front edge of the plastic panel enough to slide the aluminum panel back, saving time by not taking out that plastic panel. Your thoughts (or thoughts from other viewers that have indeed done the filter replacement)????

Hey great video I’m at 7500 and don’t trust the gm stealership any idea if the nt530 upgrade will do the flush.

How did you chase the threads on the filter housing? No one can find a thread chaser the size required.

How did you find a RPO code for your transmission? Excellent video

Great video! I'd love to know where you got the manual that specified the written information for this procedure? I've seen shop manuals on CD on ebay, but the reputation of those are pretty sketchy. I found a free download, but it was nearly useless. Also, FWIW, it looks like Foxwell offers additional software licenses for other car makes for $80 (I own a couple Hondas as well as my C8).
