Awww yeah!!! The "Love Boat" trip!!!! I remember that trip being the rite of passage for every Chinese kid I knew. <3 Sadly, the year I was old enough to go, China was doing "military exercises" in the waters around Taiwan, and my grandfather, who was on the committee in Toronto for determining acceptance applications, wouldn't let me. :_(

This show is actually decent international relations material, the US-Taiwan bond of the showi s kind of like the development of the two nations. For starters, Constance is a second generation immigrant from Taiwan. The wedding scene last season and the exchange programme in this clip shows that the despite not having official ties, the US is still assisting Taiwan via other means such as entertainment, a source of soft power. And the show promotes Taiwan to Americans as well, so more tourist. Of course it is because of Taiwan's strategic value in East Asia to check China, but it is fun to see how a TV show can have such connection to the real word

Eddie can be a real idiot though. Especially what happened with the Cheeseburger incident in the exchange program. He made up that whole story just to make his parents less upset.
