In this video, we document our visit to the JCPenney in Waterford, Michigan, where we encountered a concerning situation. Initially, the store manager completely denied the application of the Michigan bonus—only after we mentioned the word "law" did she acknowledge the issue. She took my phone number, stated she would research the matter, and promised to follow up. Now, two days have passed, and the violation remains unresolved, standing as an outstanding misrepresentation—whether intentional or not.

This video highlights the manager’s refusal to pay the Michigan bonus of 10 times the difference, up to $5, as required by the Shopping Reform and Modernization Act (SRMA). With two documented violations here, each carrying a potential value of $550 under the SRMA if pursued further, we’re left questioning how widespread this issue might be across all Michigan locations. It’s troubling to think that these retailers might be routinely failing to comply with Public Act 449 of 2011, which was once hailed as an effective enforcement tool and deterrent against widespread misrepresentation.

We can't help but wonder how many other locations might be failing to comply with the law. Let's continue to hold these retailers accountable and advocate for consumer rights.
