I can’t remember if it’s always been this way but there is a trend where public officials NEVER say they were wrong. Maybe it’s because admitting they’re wrong creates such a backlash that they’re subject to losing they’re job even if it isn’t justified. Personally I gain a great deal of respect for anyone that makes a mistake and owns up to it.
