WEBDEV COURSES I HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

Video Description:
When I was trying to break into the software development field, I used to dread rejection. Every rejection email, every interview where I was told I wasn’t a good fit—it all felt like confirmation that I wasn’t cut out for this. As someone without a CS degree, I constantly battled that voice in my head telling me I didn’t belong, that I wasn’t smart enough. But over time, I learned that rejection wasn’t just inevitable—it was essential for my growth as a developer.

In this video, I share my journey of overcoming rejection and why you should embrace it as part of your coding journey. I talk about the importance of self-assessment, how to use rejection to improve your skills, and the value of building a system that keeps you motivated and focused on your goals, even when things get tough.

If you’re struggling with job rejections or feeling stuck in your learning process, I hope this video gives you some practical advice and encouragement to keep moving forward. Remember, every rejection is a stepping stone to becoming a better developer.

You hit the nail on the head! I did everything you mentioned during my job search.

I occasionally read my interview journals and application spreadsheets to reflect on how far I've come.

As far as rejection goes, I took it personally in the beginning. It also hurts when you match the job description, the required years of experience then get rejected and have no idea why. I learned to "predict" between the lines. Common predictions where "Damn, I've got more learning to do", "Maybe fullstack isn't for you just yet...focus on frontend", "You're doing well. they felt safe with an experienced candidate".

Over time, applying to other companies when I'm multiple stages deep helped soften the blow (11:26).

i have literally no time to complain on reddit or twitter lol. so you are absolutely right when you say hired devs are not there. your channel is a lot more positive than you give yourself credit tho lol. a lot of devs have learned things from you

Just interviewed yesterday, and I feel really good about finally landing my first professional gig, but I have a phone screening on friday and I'm still applying for jobs today. Not making the mistake of getting my hopes again, keeping my foot on the gas lol

I only disagree on one thing in this episode. Continue your job search past the offer letter until you have been onboarded and are working on your first month responsibilities. I have heard too many stories of offer letters getting pulled.
