Venetian plaster online course

WHAT IS VENETIAN PLASTER?
This is a question I get asked often, which is why I chose to create this video showing the whole process.

Venetian plaster is not render, it is not paint, it is natural lime based plaster with marble dust, yes real marble crushed into fine dust!
Basically you are creating a real marble wall with only 2-3mm thickness.

IS IT EXPENSIVE?
YES, it is more expensive than paint, more expensive than render and normal solid plaster but a lot cheaper than using a custom marble piece.

For this video I used Marmorino fine, which is not as shinny and reflective as the high polished version.
However, the Marmorino finish can not be replicated with anything else, that's why every single wall is a unique piece itself.

I hope you guys enjoy the video and learn something from it, even if it's just for watching someone working :)
Please share this video and subscribe to my Chanel so I can keep creating more content to share with you.

Years ago, I did a large 12-foot high dining room in venetian plaster. It was absolutely gorgeous. Afterward, I wondered if I couldn't have saved time by using a car polisher to help with the burnishing process. Brilliant!

I am an Australian Faux Finish artist residing in New York for over 20 years. Self taught in Australia, professionally trained in the USA and glad to see Dulux has made products for the decorative plaster finishes. Finally!

Wow I did not expect those results, the gray concrete looking color in the begining really lowered my expectations, but the end blew me away! Looks amazing!

I had this treatment in my house in New Jersey many years ago. It was very beautiful.

I could immediately tell you are a professional just by the way you started your prep.

Now I’m in the land of textured drywall…Florida. So unless the whole wall had a fill coat can’t do 😩

This tutorial is excellent, it provides the actual steps involved in doing Venetian Plastering, which is a lot of work. The wall is beautifully done, THANK YOU!!

Salve, molto interessante complimenti per il video, vorrei soltanto sapere se la prima e seconda mano l'hai fatta con lo stesso stucco che hai usato per la terza e quarta mano? Grazie

Very interesting, applying small amounts, no hawk. Everything clean and tidy. Thanks for posting the drying times etc.
Here in Cnada this might be done with veneer plaster, all in one day. I have no idea about the burnishing involved with this product.
Loved the beeswax sealer !

Love the video and finished product, but how do I achieve this without the shine?

I like to tint the primer, and each of the three coats of VP.

Beautiful work. But I have one question, why do some applicators say to apply from wet to dry vs dry to wet? I’m curious to which method is best for less amount of movement to show.

Great and impressive video! How long do you wait for the plaster to dry before burnishing?

If we skip the third coat and burnish the Venetian plaster on the second coat, we end up with visible imperfections, particularly in the corners. Could you please help me understand why this happens? How I can fix that?

Great video and lovely finish. Where is venetian plaster usually used? Living rooms in hot countries, bathrooms ....? Is it very durable, easy to repair ?
