This is a step by step guide to to applying and finishing Venetian plaster. Were created a grey Marble effect with a staggered tile pattern.

We’ve used Venetian plaster from Imperia Italia. The base coat was a white (non coloured) layer of Venetian plaster followed by the coloured plaster featured in this video.

We’ll show you how to mix, apply and finish the plaster using burnishing techniques followed by a wax finish. Everything was used by products from Imperia Italia, London

Blaine, I say it time and time again. You are a true craftsman of your trade. Takes a lot to go from tradesman to craftsman in my mind but you sir are beyond that. Love every one of your videos mate. Legend

Will you be offering a paid tutorial on this ?. This is something I'm really interested in adding to my skill set. Thx

Hello mate just wondering if you could help / advice about the Venetian plaster.

Where do you buy it from I can’t get any of it online it comes up the paint version which I’ve tried and it isn’t as shiny.

And what type of dye did you use can it be like black emulsion paint ?

And do you have to use 3 coats or would you get away with a base coat then a finish on top.

Thanks

Yooo sooo glad you've started doing venetian man! Been doing a bit myself but on sample boards. Wall looks great!
Reckon you could do some content on microcement? Feel like it's going to make a comeback in bathrooms as it's 100% waterproof and cheaper than tiles

You've inspired me to try this venetian plastering. I have one problem I don't understand! When I'm burnishing, I am getting spots that flake, have you got any ideas/tips to stop this?

On a related topic: a coupla years ago, after I'd skimmed my hall and landing, I was painting it with a matt, white emulsion, and because I still had my plaster tools to hand (months after the actual plastering! LOL), I wondered what would happen if I trowelled and polished the top coat of emulsion. I couldn't find anyone else mentioning it on the interwebs, so I assumed it would go horribly wrong...
...but to my amazement, it DIDN'T!
I got a beautifully smooth, glassy finish - that was only marred by lots of grey swirly lines and marks in it, presumably cos my trowl was an old (but clean) one. If I had a brand, spangly new one, I'd have tried that. With my eyes shut, it felt like marble - but nowhere near as cold.
It gave a finish that looks a lot like this one, but white (and grey).
Have you ever tried "plastering" - and polishing - with emulsion paint?
Has anyone? LOL

hi Blaine, i am thinking of learning to do Venetian Plaster. how long did this wall take you from start to finish? and you don't have to give price per m2 but I gues you have to charge a lot more than you do for normal plastering! Cheers

Blaine have you tried using sanding pads before buffing yet 400, 600, 1000 really polishes it up, I use the mirka abranet/abralon pads 👍🏻
