How to Apply Authentic Venetian Plaster | Grassello (Shiny)

This video will teach you the basic application steps of Venetian Plaster. Venetian Plaster has almost endless possibilities which are limited only by the imagination of its applicator.

Grassello is a fine Venetian Plaster that can be burnished to create a mirror like shine through a 3 coat process built on top of a base coat of Microprimer to create proper adhesion. By following the steps in this video, and practicing on small sample boards, you will be well on your way to becoming a Venetian Plaster artist.

If we skip the third coat and burnish the Venetian plaster on the second coat, we end up with visible imperfections, cracks, particularly in the corners and some pils off in he middle. Could you please help me fix it? Can I sand it? Prime it and do it again? Or now I have to scrape it and start over?

Ron, if you are a beginner, would you recommend using grassello or modern Masters Venetian plaster? I’ve used MM product, grassello seems like a timing thing when it comes to burnishing.
