Onyx Hubs Unboxing

My new Onyx mountain bike hubs that I will be building up soon. Boost spacing, center lock, and black chrome hub shell color. Pretty sweet.

These seem to be getting more popular.
I finally chose them and am thrilled to have the best.
Like others, I did a ton of research before choosing Onyx. The only negative is weight but despite being a bit of a weight weenie I decided that gaining some grams in this particular component is worthwhile in exchange for its bombproof sprag clutch mechanism. Besides, the lower rolling resistance makes up for any lost efficiency due to weight.
The silence is a bonus but not a real sellling point for me, its the instant engagement and the smooth engagement of the hubs, no more clang or slop, just smooth drivetrain. I would imagine that slight ramp up rather than clack of engagement translates into less wear and stress on other components as well such as chain and cogs.
Mine are fluoro yellow. Beautiful.

I love Onyx hubs. I have them on my Ti gravel bike and they are amazing. As a wheel building company ( Cognoscenti Cycles) I also happily sell them. Great hubs.

Curious... going to purchase a pair of new Onyx hubs and when you say you purchased the "Black Chrome" color... was it (a) Black Chrome or (b) Powercoated black chrome? I love the color of yours and want to get the same but there's a bit of confusion about exactly which color yours are. Thanks!

I was looking at a set of these hubs, but I live in England and in the winter the trails are just deep muddy rivers, how well sealed are the hubs?
