Detailed First Day Guide to the Oculus Rift CV1 - Hardware, Software, Games

The CV1 Oculus Rift arrived today (launch day in the US, March 28th) and I got a signed note from the founders since I had backed the original Kickstarter project in August 2012. I do a quick unboxing, update my vr ready laptop drivers and plugin the Rift HMD and Camera. From there I tried out Lucky’s Tale and some other Day 1 experiences and share my thoughts. A few tips…

-Wash your forehead before playing
- Consider getting a shorter haircut
- Hold the tiny button on the Xbone and USB wireless dongle for a few seconds to get them to recognize each other
- Pull (incredibly hard) to get the little plastic tab out of the Oculus remote, maybe wash your hands and dry them first so you can get a good grip... it's really stuck in there good ;)

Unfortunately it does not appear that there will be room in the Oculus Rift box for motion controllers down the road…

- I like that the CV1 Rift strap doesn’t touch and squish your ears
- You need a lot of clearance side to side on one USB 3.0 port in order to fit the Xbox One wireless dongle (but they do include a short extension cord to help make it fit)
- It didn’t work super well with my glasses on
- I couldn’t figure out if there was a way to adjust sharpness like on the GearVR and DK1 and DK2
- Lucky’s Tale feels like the Winnie the Pooh ride at Disneyland and Disney World, going into the fox holes feels like Mario going into the pipes
- Using the Oculus Rift and virtual reality made my neck and back feel good compared to looking down at a laptop screen
- The Rift is environmentally friendly, it let’s you explore the world without using energy to move body there

I know this is 5 years old, but if anyone is thinking of using ups my choice don’t.

I used it once to change a delivery to a local pickup as I was out of town. Now ANY package delivered with my name on it is automatically redirected to that CVS (the pickup spot I used 2 years ago)

I have fought with them over getting this fixed since. As of yesterday I have given up and use a fake name for all my deliveries.

is your pc ready for the oculus beaucause i have a pc with a GTX960M and i dont know if it is going to work

Just need to vent my Rift, Biggest pile of crap i ever wasted money on . Firstly headset not recognized, then it is .If not that Sensors not recognized, then one is, or HDMI must be connected to main GPU update drivers, backdate drivers. When and if all that messing is overcome . Next thing is ...Sorry Your game seems to be taking a long time to download, If this persists take your headset off and check the in game app, or some other Problems with my Rift go on and on and i see many other people have same or similar issues . It would seem to me this technology is nowhere near ready for public launch even now as i type this 22/02/2018 This lump of garbage as been released for no other reason but to make vast profits with no regard for the people laying out hard earned cash buying it . Developers offer little or no solutions or updates for the issues the Rift as. No they are far to busy getting the £600 wireless version of this housebrick ready for more big profiteering later this or next P****D Rift O**.... Rant Over.
