this is i think the underdog product of Tesla, doesent get much attention but has huge potential.

A lot of trucks do regular runs to warehouses or large shopping centres. Installing chargers at those loading docks would be a great way to top up without time penalty. Covering those buildings in solar would also bring more savings.
Where they suit, they will surely dominate.

Semi should be much safer. No more brake failures. No jack knifing. FSD (supervised). Keeps up with traffic on long upward grades.

Semi won't be a huge profit center for Tesla, probably, but the impact on the industry and society will be large. Ridding ourselves of diesel fumes sounds great.

I listened to the call and reviews after, but it's great to have your breakdown with care and color added. I should just wait and watch your videos instead to save time! Thanks.

Will be interesting to see how FSD handles variable wheel base lengths, not all trailers are the same.
Future Trailers could feature a low cost, wide angle, drive by wire, rear wheel steering dolly, for those small city streets where damage is common.

Your Tesla Semi News is really good stuff! FSD as an aid for the drivers will be a boon for the drivers!

owner/operators ("fleets" of 1-3 trucks) are focused cost to entry - still no clue what the purchase price will be. I have seen from $120k to $300k. Obviously it makes a HUGE difference as they have no economy of scale.

the semi be part of critical infrastructure with platooning alone

(megachargers with solar and batteries be welcome everywhere - solar is the cheapest electricity there is and batteries are the best peakerplants )

Great graphic tables and data presentation. Better than Dillon!

FSD would also be great in a caravan of Semis, where only the first Semi has a human driver for safety.

Tesla are going to completely disrupt the trucking industry.

Does the Tesla Semi have the same/similar safety performance as the rest of Tesla vehicles?

Diesel Semis carrying big loads have to be cautious going down steep inclines to not overheat the brakes and employ engine braking and lower gears to hold the truck back often are going at a slower speed. Where the Tesla Semi with its regen braking and no gears have a lot more control and not the load on the brakes which will enable better speeds not depicted by braking restrictions

A succinct and accurate video, Jon, that very well sums up the case for the Tesla Semi. The other factors I would mention are the quietness of operation and the safety brought not only to truck drivers (and insurance companies) but also to all other vehicles, drivers, and passengers sharing the highways.

Looks like a promising product. I wonder how well the power grid will be able to keep up with thousands or millions of electric semi trucks. Maybe this will be the next chapter of innovation in our country.

There is no charging network for the Tesla semi right now for cross country shipping. Also there is no sleeper cab available yet.

The degree of regeneration partly depends on the charge of the battery. With a full battery, it is zero. Something to take into account in hilly areas.

Thank you for information, video, and all of the effort you put into your channel !! Where is the data, for the companies doing the Tesla Semi Trials, about charging the semi? How did they charge the semi on site? How many charging cycles did the semi go through (did the semi come fully charged, they drove it 370-390 miles, then gave the semi back)? How long did it take to charge the semi that did the long haul before it was ready to do another haul of any length? How much did it cost to charge the semi? What infrastructure will be needed at a Frito Lay site to charge 20 Tesla semis? Feels like half the video was missing.
