You forgot tier 6, when the weapon is gacha, whether to obtain it or get the substats or both then gets destroyed if you fail the upgrade. The Korean tier

I genuinely abhor it when you have to:
>farm for the equipment (RNG-reliant, can get the wrong ones)
>look at its main stats (RNG-reliant, can get the useless ones)
>gacha for its sub-stats (RNG-reliant, can get the weak ones)
>especially when all this process needs stamina to do

GFL(1)'s equipment system is great, while Reverse:1999 and Limbus Company's is a godsend.

i dont think this RNG gacha system will last much longer. both genshin and HSR have been releasing ways to minimize the randomness of their artifacts/relics, and ZZZ already makes it easier to get the pieces you want. i expect wuwa to also release a means to reroll substats and a better way to guarantee main stats in the future.

in the long term, this gearing system will end up being the reason why people will actively avoid these games, as more games with equal quality but better gearing systems (like arknights endfield for example) start getting released.

Reverse 1999 gearing and gacha system is the reason I spent money on skins (in the form of monthly pass). it's just a joy to just hop in for less than 5' doing daily and the rest of your time in game is just event or main story or just checking out your favorite character and look at them until you sign out. this type of game need to be supported financially so that they don't close it down

Someone remember Dragalia Lost? They had one of the best gear systems in gacha. You could just craft the best weapon by completing raids and getting materials to craft and cards by using very common money in game

Ironically, the gear RNG makes me not want to play and usually quit because of it, instead of making me log in every day.

The things that do make me log in every day are steady progression like ascension mats.

Nowadays I've given up the endgame aspect of gacha games. I'll be content as long as I can clear the main story & events. I'd rather spend my time & energy completing my JRPG backlog than mindlessly grinding for gears.

From my experiences with zenless, hoyo seem to have taken less of a focus on the relic/gearing system. Disc stats now have a fixed value when being upgraded, making it much more consistent, while enabling a possibility to hit maximum value way more easily than genshin or hsr. I think they have also balanced the stat distribution too? Ever since I started playing zenless since launch, grinding for stats feel extremely consistent, crit stats don't feel more tedious to get compared to other stats. All of this generally just gives me less of an incentive to grind gears, but instead to go for materials to prepare for future characters. I'm curious to see how far this new design direction will go in the future, but it currently still feels like a very healthy and engaging system to me

If you think tier 5 is bad you should take a look at final fantasy war of the visions, it alone deserves tier 6 or 7 just for itself.
It has:
-Character gacha
-Card gacha (Weapon gacha)
-Esper gacha (Another type of weapon)
-Gear grinding (RNG drops but fixed stats)
-RNG gear attachments
-Reincarnations which grant random extra stats from +0%-100% and all stats can land on different values
And all of this is in a PVP focused game mind you.

Funnily enough the "genshinification" isn't exactly correct in cases of PGR and Snowbreak, as they use system closer to mihoyo's previous game, HI3, similar to stigmata there, though at least in Snowbreaks case its farmable instead of rollable like it is in HI3

reasons why i stopped playing HSR, even though i am a Dolphin before.
imagine, 2 month of farming for herta's Gear, yet NOT A SINGLE GEAR are usable.
worse is, forget substats, i cant even get the MAIN STATS right
