Should be able to answer simple questions on prisoner numbers ?

Mark Mitchell needs to brush up on the facts and answer the questions asked. Several times Luxon had to interject and respond to questions albeit as always he didn’t ask the questions asked - just repeated his political spin
Increasing prison numbers will do nothing to reduce crime NZ has an imprisonment rate that is way way above any other country

Not spending on one activity and using it (spending) on another activity is not an actual saving. As total spending is the same.

Mark Mitchell will be the next to go. Doesn't seem to be across the details of one of his biggest and important portfolios.

So glad now that National party did not make Mitchell the leader 😬😬😂

I do hope you mean 500 new police for auckland areas, not nation wide! Otherwise you have seriously under estimated just how bad crime is in this country!

The PM was seemingly annoyed at mark for not being across his numbers. Felt like the number 810 is now stuck in my head

If you are a violent prisoner you will be locked up, perhaps these journos should spend a day in prison with the violent offenders

Six years ( 3 years labour/NZFIRST). Minister cannot count.

$ to tasks. At high level the PM and minister cannot say by not filling vacancies means budget 2023/2024 will underspent by $? dollars etc! So once again a lack detail.

None of this is proven to do anything to help either violent offenders or front-line corrections officers. If people had everything they needed, a lot less people would be offending. We need social and public investment, not more violent enforcers of colonisation (corrections officers, policemen). And at what point was anybody’s individual well-being considered by the PM and the Minister other than by clarifying the slushy machine budget? Disgraceful - as per usual from this Govt.

The indian jewelry association is disappointed with new government as crime seems to have increased.

How bout aiming at our needs first, stop supermarkets price gouging us, seek cheaper brics oil, pop the housing bubble, and force wealthy kiwis to give up investment properties so the struggling working class have first priority on home ownership.
