The HR wiki now says "Cybershell" instead of "a user". Good job, Lore Master, you have immortalized your name.

Fun fact: Strong Bad HIMSELF uses and acknowledges this wiki in an official HSR video when he can't figure out a fan's intentionally-obscure Halloween costume and has to look up who it is

I spent hours on this place when I was 12. This legit is one of those rare instances where the niche subject feels directly targetted at me.

Wow, you've done it, Sega finally knows who you are. Amy even called you the Lore Master meaning that Sega knows Cybershell is the Sonic Lore Master. All my respect goes to you.

I like how this channel went from video games to basically anything that crosses your mind

I love how Amy called you "Lore Master" on 'accident'. Either they did their research or the voice actors or writers for that segment know you. Either way, on top of them making the reference, I can imagine hearing that felt pretty good.

Logopedia is one of my personal favourites, because they have literally every logo known to man documented on it, the designers of said logos, and how the logo has evolved over time.

my favorite wiki is definitely the Super Mario Wiki, which has standards of quality and professionalism higher than literally any other fanwiki I've ever seen. basically every time I've used a Fandom wiki for something I've always had the thought "dang. this would be so much better if it was following the editorial standards of the Super Mario Wiki instead of what it's doing here"

Funnily enough, I went as "Anonymous Contributor" for Halloween one year, which actually made Strong Bad himself reference the wiki itself on one of the official "Fan Costumes" compilations.

Since you mentioned They Might Be Giants, I should note that there wiki is just as detailed the Homestar Runner Wiki. It's called This Might Be A Wiki and every song they've made has a page on this wiki, even each songs demos or released live versions. Each song page has all the albums it appeared in and when it was first performed live. There are also pages dedicated to every live show a song is played, song themes, a page where you can write you own meaning of the song, a page showing different versions of that song with links to pages of there own, guitar and bass tabs, and even a page about songs that have been mistaken as TMBG songs.

i absolutely adore the splatoon wiki "inkipedia" cuz they got literally EVERYTHING about this game on here. translation differences, deciphering the in game language, pages about obscure characters only appearing in haikara walker its fucking great

side note: man i've been seeing homestar runner related content a lot more lately

I could watch a 45-minute Cybershell video about paint drying and it would still be a banger.

I think The Cutting Room Floor is my favorite to just browse here and there. It isn’t quite as extensive but the content they cover is so much fun to sift through. That and the pages can sometimes have some fun gags.

Personally I love the Sound Effects Wiki, it's a surprisingly thorough wiki about specific sound effects used in cartoons, shows, movies, games etc. If there's a sound effect I know in my head but don't know the name of I wanna use in a project of mine (especially if I can't find it in my personal SFX horde due to how said sound effect's file might be labelled), it's a great resource to find out what the sound is called and even what sound effects library it originates from. Once you get past the vibe of it being run by a bunch of weird autismos that get _really_ obsessed over sound effects used in children's media, it's a really fascinating wiki.

I like fanon wikis that go into absurd detail about things that don't even exist.

Of note is the Plants vs. Zombies Character Creator wiki, which has fanmade plants and zombies... but they also have a category which shows some entries that were made canon. Always accidentally of course, but sometimes the similarities between the fanon and the canon depictions are surprisingly close.

The Old School Runescape Wiki has to be my favourite, a wiki so essential that they baked a "lookup on wiki" function into the game's UI. It's not just useful and comprehensive, it's also right up there with the dwarf fortress wiki as one of the most entertaining things to read out of context. Just smash the random page button a few times, you won't regret it.

A few of my favorite wikis
Stardew Valley's wiki is mostly written by Eric Barone, the game's developer, and is accurate to the point of speedrunners and challenge runners going by information on the wiki over their own memory
The Ultrakill wiki is awash with jokes after a big YouTuber made a joke about editing the wiki to change the lore
The Super Mario Wiki is notoriously thorough to the point that when the official Super Mario Encyclopedia came out it had several entries that were partially or fully copied from the wiki, all of these instances of copying are documented on the wiki.

The Jerma lore wiki is always one that’ll get a good laugh out of me and my friends, despite none of us ever watching any of his streams, and I’d say I think a lot of the NIWA wikis are quite good, in particular the Animal Crossing one has a ton of stuff on it given the amount of items, holidays, and other minor elements exist in those games. One that I know about, despite not committing myself to running it, is an entire wiki dedicated to guides of speedrunning Super Mario 64. Speedrun wikis are a bit of a rarity, but it figures that one exists for one of the most popular speed games of all time.

something ive always loved about the hrwiki is that it has a list of every font used in the toons, and examples of their usage. has been a super useful resource of good contexts to use certain typefaces
