Trauma Causing a Red Eye

This poor little Pomweranian was playing with it's bigger roomie , and got punched in the eye. The eye became bloody inside and bulged out due to swelling behind the eye .

I’m going to comment this in case something like this happens to somebody else. This happened to my dog very quickly, I noticed blood in both of her eyes and we had no idea what caused it (no trauma) and our vet referred us to a specialist after her eyes started to bulge and quickly worsen. They ruled out possible causes, mostly pointing towards some sort of autoimmune disorder, toxins, or cancer. They tested her lymph nodes, and it ended up being lymphoma. She passed away yesterday at age 3. If you know that your dog didn’t have any sort of trauma and this happens to them, please take them to the vet to get testing done asap

So glad I found this my poor baby possibly got hit by one of my other dogs today and her eye swelled fast I didn’t notice till later in the day and I took her to the vet right away!! Got sent home with ointment, pain meds and one other. I was super worried about it! so glad to see that I’m not the only one this has happened to!

I have a chocolate Boston terrier who was 10 months old an over night went blind an has maybe 5% left in his right eye. No dr can tell me what exactly happened they just keep saying his retina has deteriorated. They all refer me to a dog eye specialist but they are so expensive.. Not just a couple hundred dollars either.. He just got done scratching his eye as well.. Looked exactly like that. Took about a month an a half to heal up. He's a very happy dog, still plays fetch, plays ball. He loves his life ! Just wish his eyesight wasn't stolen from him:(
He's 4 now!

My dog has eyes like that but he’s not in pain and it didn’t happen from a injury 🤔

I think it might have gotten too close to a big dog when its happy, cause when they get excited they slap their tail very hard & the small dog might have got its eye hurt that way...I dont know, thats what i think happened. I hope it gets better though.

I have a question? My dog got caught up in his collar and was being choked. The other dogs teeth were caught inside the collar and they got stuck. I ended up freeing the two dogs myself and there both ok now. My dogs eyes are red on the outside of the ball, What should I do? He's eating and drinking and there not swelling and he seems to be his old self. Will he been ok.
