I miss the golden age of space marines. When kits sometimes came with extra legs so you could make more marines than advertised, or enough chest pieces that you could buy some legs on EBay and build a 10 man squad from a box of 5..

Just play a Xenos army! You’ll never worry about buying new models and everything can be found for cheap cuz no one plays them!

FOR HEAVYLY PAINTED MINIATURES: Sink them in pharmacy alcohol for some hours.(or a night even) It will corrode the paint and glue but leave the plastic unscratched. Use a teethbrush and you can swipe them clean in a minute.

Cut coke bottles in half and use the bottom as a water cup for painting and the top with a bit of blue tac as a painting handle

Play Warhammer cheaper, build models smart...you see that gunner on that ATV...wrong thats a Primaris Lieutenant just lacking a 40mm base.

You see those easy to build snap fit Primaris marines and or Reavers? wrong those are 3 HQ options for your primaris force.

See i saved everyone hundreds of Euros right there.

Infatry charatcer prices are absolutely ridculous. As well as welling half sized units. I mean they sell you 3/box when the unti size is 6. Or even worse 3/box with a unit size of 9.
IMO infantry characters need to be seriously reduced in price and units need to be sold with maximum members in a box.

Im just about to start a Sister army.. and im doing it without buying a single thing from GW.

Also. The APP is a worthles piece of shit. The armybuilder is still not working after months. And to get tge codex into it you need to buy an actual codex to use the code given in said codex.

I have to second the delay purchases until later. I rarely buy more than one kit/box set at time until one is completed and it served me quite well. My only exception is during holiday break where I got both time and money.

Advice for SM Firstborn players, buy legs off eBay. Most firstborn kits have enough spare torsos, heads, arms and weaponry that legs are realistically the only additional part you will consistently need.

I recently started collecting 40k, got the Indomitus box a couple of months ago, and the mini's aren't whats been costing me tons of money at the beginning. I think the indomitus box has only cost me way less than 1/4 of what I've spent so far. Also bear in mind that most of what I've bought has been from other retailers and not from GW so I'm getting between 10-20% off the RRP.

The thing that cost all the money was the hobby materials. Paint being an obviously big one, but also brushes, clippers, files, glues, basing materials, thinners, palettes, primers, handles, lights. Then there's the rulebooks as well, luckily Indomitus came with a core book but the two codices for the Necrons and Space Marines weren't cheap.

I did also have a few things from my older warhammer days, a pin vice, scalpel and tweezers, but the paints had to be binned.

I bought the Kromlech quad cannon, with a Quad Heavy Bolter option for the top turret, to play as either a Thunderfire or a Rapier Carrier. The Techmarine I kitbashed up to go with it ended up being one of my favorite models in my entire collection.

A big yes-yes on saving all the bits, kit-bashing is by far my favourite thing to do in the hobby and you get some really nice personalized models out of it.

Here is one trick to save literally 50%.

Work at a Warhammer Store. The Employee Discount is 50%. This is how most my armies happened, its because I got them so discounted. Being a Temp there was great.
