for all beginners please note that his ring and pinky fingers stay in controll of the stick. controlling each bounce. rebound can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

I remember doing this same exercise in my freshman year of highschool during my percussion class. At the time it was extremely boring and I hated doing it, but here I am 6 years later doing it subconsciously on my thighs when I get anxious 😂 funny how muscle memory works

I'm a clarinet player, but I've always been a fan of drum line cause I'm in marching band. Sometimes the percussionists let us use their practice pads, so I want to learn this and show them 😁

I'm almost 50 and where my son, he the musician, not me, but he couldn't take his drum set and I've wanted to learn, so this stuff is so great. I'm left handed, but use both hands for everything, so he showed me some ways to play a bit differently. Trying to figure out where I'm comfortable. Since I use both, I have this trouble with everything I do if I have to pick a dominant one. But I'm excited to try these and surprise him with a video at some point :) thanks so much!!!

Great video! To viewers: keep in mind that this is French grip. Most DCI’s use traditional grip, and high schools/middle schools use match grip.

Appreciate what you’re doing. I’d recommend closing the gap between your thumb and pointer finger. Helps with control later on with more complicated and faster rudiments. Keep up the great work!
