The folk at Nyetimber asked us to pull our original Mogg film cos it featured their fizzy wine being enjoyed at Glyndebourne. They say: “We do not accept any connection between the nature of the video/Jacob Rees-Mogg and the Nyetimber brand.” Don’t blame them. Here’s a new one. 🍾

Jacob Reese Mogg is basically a villain from a victorian novel, but worse than that he's real, and even worse than that, he's actually in government.

Rees Mogg is not to be mistaken for an intellectual. He has no interest in ideas. His utterances never stray from the boundaries of self interest, class snobbery and catholic religious dogma. He is just good with words, something trained into him by his editor father and Eton.

You look at him and think "well, he looks a bit like someone cosplaying a 19th century aristocrat" and then he opens his mouth and you realize, he actually IS cosplaying a 19th century aristocrat. I know someone whose father worked alongside Moggs dad at the Times and he confided in him that he was worried about his son because he would spend long periods of time shut in his bedroom listening to Churchill speeches over and over again on a record player....he was around 10 years old.

I do enjoy the way he speaks. I just wish he knew that it is not compulsory for all those who sound outrageously posh and verbose to also be scummy, selfish, lazy, money-fetishists with no regard for working people (or a working environment)
