I'm reading The Miniaturist at the moment! I'm almost halfway through and I'm really liking it so far. I live in Amsterdam, so to me it's really fun to have the characters walking through the streets I grew up in :)

YES HEMINGWAY. He's one of my favorite writers of all time and certainly of the 20th century. I really loved that short story as well.

It's sounds so fantastic, but I've been waffling on purchasing it vs borrowing it from the library because I've heard such mixed reviews. Hmmm...

Regan = destroyer of book bans. You do such a great job of summing up books that you make me want to read books I previously intentionally did not add to my TBR list. This month it's The Miniaturist. Love your wrap ups!  :)

HILLS LIKE WHITE ELEPHANTS. I love that short story! One of my favorites. We read it a few weeks ago in Lit and...yeah.

If you can write a three page short story that's still awesome, dang you're a good writer

okay, I know I'm super late, but I just finished reading "The Miniaturist" per Regan's request and I adored it, couldn't put it down. But! I wish that thing that had happened didn't happen, and I also saw both big twists coming.

I read The Duff this month too! I loved it, but I'm a sucker for kinda cliche, drama-filled plots because my teenage life was never like that, lol. I thought it had a nice message too and liked that the most of the book, mostly because I felt like Kody Keplinger got it across without being too preachy? Like, I felt like it was something that seemed like a revelation to Bianca and like she grew a lot as a character by the end. Also, Hills Like White Elephants is A+. I had to read it for a Lit Crit class a few semesters ago and I love it. :)

I just bought Falling Kingdoms and I'm so excited, and I've been meaning to pick up The Miniaturist for a few months now, but keep forgetting and getting distracted whenever I go in Barnes and Noble. Hills Like White Elephants is really strong and a fantastic read.

In the 17thC The Netherlands was in its Golden Age. The arts scene was headed by icon Rembrandt, his cohorts Vermeer & Hals, and a host of others, & I mean dozens. It was a cool time period. Any quality book on paintings in the Rijksmuseum & The Golden Age by Haak will give one a sense of the breadth & depth of the period.

You should watch Reign on the CW. I feel like you would fall in love with it.

We read hills like white elephants at school and at first i did not understand anything at all! I understood that it was a hidden message there, but i could not see what it was! Then i read it a few more times and suddenly understood everything, and when i first started to understand, i tought it was so beautiful and clever! Like iceberg theory delux! We worked with that tiny short story for weeks (i had to play it out in front of the class and write an essey), and working so much with it made me really connect with it and i do still think about it a lot! I need to read some more hemingway...

I absolutely adored The DUFF, probably because I'm a younger audience but I found it cute and I felt as though I connected with Bianca's character, idk, I liked it

I read 10 book this month. My favorite by far was the Knife of Never Letting Go. At first I wasn't sure if I'd even like it but I ended up loving it.
