Hey Booktube, here's my February Wrap Up 2024! I finished 10 books during my "one week, one shelf" reading challenge and here are my reviews!

_____ To support my channel & the kittens _____

_____ MEET THE KITTIES _____
Charlie: All black with no thumbs. He thinks he's spiderman and climbs in the window screens. His favorite snack is wtv book I'm currently reading.
Clawdia: Black and white with a beauty mark. She has thumbs... wouldn't surprise me if she stole them. She's pure chaos but she purrs and cuddles me so it's fine.
Chunky: Black with a white patch on his chest. Has thumbs. Needy, crusty, whiny baby... can't live without him.

My favourite February reads were Ace by Angela Chen and Braiding Sweet grass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
I look forward to your Octavia Butler video in the future :)

I loved “I read this right before Valentine’s Day because I wanted to feel extra single.” 😆

I'm really looking forward to the release of the new Leigh Bardugo book!! And I took your word and read Kindred as my first Octavia E. Butler in February and it was the best book I read in the month :D

The audio for Comfort Me With Apples was surprisingly good and very short

I was also in reading slump in february and march is already way better for me, sometimes you just need a break from reading 😮‍💨I actually just started Parable of the Sower - my first book by her, atleast it's not the Patternmaster series so it's probably gonna be fine haha

You might like The Briars Book of the Dead - AG Slater. Witches. Cozy vibes. And not so cozy vibes haha.

Best book I read in February—Demon Copperhead. The hype about Barbara Kingsolver as a Pulitzer prize winner is completely warranted.

Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne just got announced it comes out October 23rd

I'm beyond hyped for Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao, it got pushed back to december but I'm willing to wait.

Arithmophobia comes out in ten days! It is a math horror book with 13 short stories and a poem written in the Fibonacci sequence

I had the same sentiments about The Calculating Stars! I was so invested in the beginning but the story went downward spiral later on.

My best books so far this year were “What You Are Looking For is in the Library” by Michiko Aoyama and “Kindred” (based on your recommendation). Loved both of them!! I also read a couple excellent non-fictions, but I usually read historical non-fiction lol. I loved the BTS biography “Beyond the Story.”

I found it weird how little the meteor hitting the earth came up in The Calculating Stars. I remember reading a banal scene about the main character asking her husband if he wants his sandwich made with rye bread or some other bread and I just screamed: ISN'T THE WORLD ENDING? and then just lost all hope for my enjoyment of the novel, lol. Opening vibes did not match rest-of-book vibes for me 😂. On a positive vibe - I read and loved Susan Juby's new book, the follow-up to the great cozy, amusing Mindful of Murder which I also enjoyed a lot. Def recommend.
