GE head gasket is not composite rubbish as this video says. Its a single layer viton coated gasket that actually is pretty strong. Best option is putting rods in a 2jzge vvti and gte headgasket no real need to do head studs factory head bolts are the same from gte to ge. Go standalone and run e85, I follow a couple guys who are making 700-900whp with stock GE vvti pistons just changing out rods and headgasket. Could also just boost a 2jzge non vvti and run the distributor as your CAS and wire in some vvti coils or LS, gtr or yaris coils. You'd benefit from the higher compression with e85 and wouldnt even have to crack open the engine.

Crazy how a year ago it was cheaper to buy a GTE instead of build a solid NA+t which is the way I am going

AWESOME VIDEO Clayton! We all do APPRECIATE all the time to take to make these video. This helps us by not spending money on things that do NOT work. Cheers!

For those wanting further info. The skid factory went through all the differences between the 1j/2j ge/gte VVTI/non vvti

I have a 2jzge+t and it holds 350kw fine. Was way cheaper to upgrade to forged pistons and rods than to search for a whole non vvti bottom end. All in my build cost me $6500 about the same as it would be to buy a non vvti in Australia

So I found a non vvti Ge for $500 bought it
Modified the head for a cam sensor
Bought HKS 272 for $400
( could buy factory tt cams for like $200)
Bought a stand alone ecu $1000
Did lq9 cool packs $100
Modified factory harness
So far I’m $1100 into it and I would have done a stand along and cams in a tt either way so the GE is much more cost effective

i have a 1987 Toyota supra swapped a jdm non-vvti 2jzge in it and slapped a 70mm turbo on it with a greddy e management ultimate only ran 8 psi of boost was great then i wanted more so i rebuilt the motor the ge head gasket is single layer metal not composite. took the head and block to a machine shop got them decked and put new oem 2jzge piston rings and acl bearings (crank and rods) arp crank bolts arp rod bolts got a new oem 2jzgte head gasket arp head bolts new asin 2jzge oil pump VITON VALVE STEM SEALS 650cc denso injectors and put it all back together you can do it for cheaper but i went all out. and for oil pumps you cant run a gte oil pump on a ge block you can but you will push the front main seal out from to much oil pressure. 2jzgte are getting really pricey you can turbo a 2jzge as long as you know what you are doing!

Jesus christ I'm stoked I didn't have 2jz ge last year, definitely needed this

Super budget boost, turbo kit on a bone stock 2jzge, wire up safc2

Maybe injectors and headgasket.

Not going to make a ton of power but more fun than NA

I using my NA 2jz vvti but I'm adding a 2.4 mm thick head gasket to lower the compression ratio, changing the rods and getting forged high compression pistons that might sound dumb, but I want my car to school fast and it's not making 1000 hp if it made 450 I would tune itbecause that's way too much for a street car. That's actually fun.

Been running a 2000 gs300 2jzge vvti for 2 years making 648whp with no problems at all. Running a GTX3584

the ge distributor houses the crank and cam angle sensors, you can just remove the cap and rotor and use the base of the distributor instead of getting sensor ports welded to the head and replacing the oil pump. you also need a ignition pulse confirmation synthesizer to run yaris coils on a gte ecu

Love your videos man, excited to turbo my 92 sc300! Thinking vvti ge head to get rid of the distributor lol, definitley option 3 but i think its still more cost effective than buying a gte with their prices in us rn

I am building a 2GZ-GE VVTi block with GTE internals for my IS 300 (Altezza). It’ll have a GE head for better exhaust flow. So far I’m not into it very much money at all.

Toyota started remaking and selling the 2JZ-GTE non vvti head. I bought a brand new one for $2400 AUD a few years ago. Could be an alternative to the 1.5J option.
