Guys Karl benz did not invent the first car, he was the first to patent it. And Peugeot started as a company in 1810 and didn’t start making cars till the late 1800s

I think that actually the first ever recorded "car crash" is a crash of Joseph Cugnot's car called Fardier à vapeur, which happened in 1771. Guy was way ahead of his times anyway, sadly not everyone appreciated it. Who knows if not money (as always), we might have cars even earlier, as he was willing to work on his projects, but couldn't find a way to finance them (french army was interested, but had budget issues).
