I’ve never used a grinder, only mills and lathes. But I truly enjoy when my inserts wear out and you see lots of fireworks in the mill.
Or when you plunge a thru-coolant drill full rapid into a part and it turns pretty colors.

I've always run with coolant to keep the work piece cool and stop it expanding.
Very light cuts is possible but anything more than just brushing it will cause expansion in the work surface
