Great way to store filament for sure to prevent further moisture absorption. Some folks think desiccant will dry their filament, but it will not. However, it will help prevent further moisture absorption from happening when stored correctly! Fortunately, I live in a nice dry environment where I can keep PLA (and for the most part ABS) open on my shelf. This is great storage solution for those who live in humid environments!

Great video. Simple basic and easy to understand.
Defiantly recommend the sealed box so that you are not allowing air in when trying to dry the filament

Excellent. I have the exact setup, but with the larger totes of the same brand and design. I can maintain 10% relative humidity.

Great information. 👍🏻 Seems like a lot of people currently is getting into 3D printing, myself included, and these practical tips are great. In hindsight the information may seem logical, but might not be the first thought. 😊

After watching your vid' I purchased a dry box from Amazon, the one designed specifically for filament. Room humidity was 55% when I placed the filaments in. 48 hours passed now and the humidity level inside has slowly crept up to not what I expected. Has a perfect airtight seal on the box

You remind me of Christopher Meloni in the show Happy!

Great video! I'm planning to implement something like this, so this video comes handy!
Unrelated question :D, are you planning in reviewing the Ender K1?

found out there are rechargeable & reusable versions of damprid, called 'Eva-dry', it's got those pellets in it and when it gets wet (has an indicator) you plug the thing into the wall and it dries itself for re-use.

Good video, thanks. I've been storing my filament this way for some time. I mount my hygrometers to the covers by drilling a hole and using silicone to fill any air spaces. This seems to work Ok but I generally can't get the displayed humidity values below 35% regardless of the dryness of the added filament rolls. I always dry my filament rolls in a Soval SH02 dryer for at least 12 hrs before placing them in the boxes. I've also tried placing a hygrometer inside with unmodified cover and still don't see humidity valus much kess than 35%. I Iive in MA so I'm generally not dealing with extremely high outside humidity but summers can be quite humid at times. In general what humidity values do you see in your boxes? Any tips on ways to reduce the interior humidity I'm seeing? I do generally put at least 100g of dessicant in each box and change with fresh dessicant monthly. Appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

I would also add that its advised to store those boxes somewhere without direct sun expousure

While I enjoy the video and also decided to buy the sterilite boxes. In the end they didn't seem to work that great. I bought 3 of them, so it wasn't a fault one. All of them seem to not have a great seal as the desiccant packs of mine kept getting moisture quick that I needed to dry them weekly. And still ended up needing to dry the spools as they were having issues due to moisture. Not sure if using a second 100g pack will make a difference if it's a seal issue with the box.

Great video - I just purchased a 3D printer and about 10 spools of Bambu PLA basic. So far I have been trying to put them back in the baggies that the spools were shipped in. I'm thinking of building a dry box. Do you store the spools in their plastic bags, or is that unnecessary for longer term storage in the dry box?

At what humidity level do you need to dry your filament. Thanks for the video.

Thankfullly i live in the desert so i dont have to worry about humidity much 😂 but im still gonna do this just in case.

where did you buy the better storage box? i don't see the url for it in the description

Greetings my friend. Is it possible that you make a video explaining the easy setup to support in bamboo lab studio? To be able to paddle them easily

So during the printing itself you take the spool out of the dry box, use it, and then put it right back in? The amount of moisture it absorbs while printing isn't significant?

Can you use the filament dryer to fry the desiccant packs?
