Many people will be considering buying an LG OLED TV this year and some will be choosing between the 48" and the 55" as they are the most popular sizes. But which should you buy? Here are my thoughts..

I buy all my TVs from John Lewis in the UK as they have the best service, price match and deal with any issues quickly and without hassle.

I bought the 48" recently for just £800. It's a lovely TV with awesome Dolby Vision clarity and colour... especially at that price! No regrets.

I ended up getting the 48" and it really had to do with my bedroom size also keep in mind that the brighter the screen the more eye strain at night so night viewing i end up turning the brightness down in day time viewing everything cranked up is good so really it boils down to budget and room size to be very honest but all in all im very happy with my 48" for a bedroom TV.

Thanks for making this video. I'm watching it in February of 2023. Everything you've said helps to confirm that I'm making the right choice in buying the 55" C2 TV. It's currently on sale, in Australia, for just over 31% off! (Down from AU$3200 to $2100!)
One thing, despite LG's quick set-up guide showing a diagram of the TV on a swivel stand, none of the C2 TVs come with a swivel stand one one is not available...However, there are VESA mounting screw holes on the back, so it can be mounted on a 3rd party swivel stand (or wall mounted.)

Brightness isn't everything. See the scene with Will Smith there. The sky in the background. You see the details in the sky better with the shades of blue and white in the 48" while it's all punchy white in the 55".

Of course a bigger tv would be brighter than a smaller cuz of the number of pixels.. at the end the technology used in 48 and 55 is the exact same ! Choice just depend on the distance u will be sitting from the tv. For gaming, i think the 48 is a more suittable one.

48 is sharper. Has accurate color. Better dynamic range (reveals more information in dark scenes and it does not blow out background highlights while showing better sharpness) . I did not care about counting stars.

Both look great and with the 55, given the color should be able to be changed and can lower the brightness to see if the background+highlighs are better rendered, the 55 would better match the 48 and show more stars when brightness is turned up again for the star scenes😂

The C2 55 inch is now £1, 399... I'm waiting for one more price drop before I pull the trigger. I'm currently using a 15 year old 1080p tv for gaming, so this will be one hell of an upgrade...

The Will Smith shot on the 55 the sky and grass to his left are both blown out where as on the 48 theres still detail in those areas

Just picking a 55inch up tomorrow morning. Have you done a full picture settings video for it as I can't find it anywhere?

I agree. The 48" C2 feels more like a rebranded C1 with little to no improvement. Using heatsink would've done wonders for it, which is why Asus PG42UQ is now on top of my list... unless it's blatantly overpriced and late release. Good news for those who love the 48" size is that Samsung is rumored to release a 49" QD-OLED next year. Gotta love the state of OLED market right now.

I'll be picking up my next PC monitor, the LG C2 42" on Black Friday or whenever it's sub <$1000. The $300 Ergotron HX arm mount stings a little though.

funny because in this comparison the 48" seems to show more detail in dark or remote areas🤔

I don't agree, the 48"c2 has more pixels than the 55". It's personal preference if you like 48"or 55", there is no big difference between the 2 models. Both uses the same panel

I had read the LG C2 42" and 48" use the same OLED panel as last year, while the bigger sizes have the actual W-OLED panel and that LG is shipping just now the WOLED versions of 42" and 48" without actually telling the customer which panel they are getting but rather advertising everything as new evo oled. How are you supposed to test your C2 to check which panel you got or is this true at all?
