10 ways to Stop a Nose Bleed - A Surgeon Explains

Показать описание
How to stop a nosebleed: Tips from an ENT surgeon. In this video I explain 1st aid techniques you can do to stop a nose bleed as well as things you can do to avoid a nose bleed in the future. I see a lot of incorrect practice and so I want to show you how to do this right. There is also a quiz at the end of the video to see if you are a nose bleed first aid master.

I didn't manage to get on to the section on blood pressure tablets as it was making the video too long. Basically high blood pressure doesn't cause nose bleeds, but having a high blood pressure will certainly make an insignificant nose bleed become much worse and difficult to treat. Please remember to keep taking your blood pressure medication. If you would like more tips and detail about nose bleeds please sign up to my email newsletter.

CHARITY NFTs
I am going to start making a collection of NFTs about environmental projects I am passionate about. They aren't for sale yet, but once I have a few I will put them on the blockchain. All profits will be donated to charities. This first one is about plastic in the sea, and I will find a charity that will accept a crypto donation. I will also make a video one day explaining the benefits of NFTs. It also gives me a chance to flex some artistic brain cells I haven't used in many many years.

Ugh, the school nurse used to force me to hold my head back when I had a nosebleed. Even as a kid I knew it was wrong. I had to swallow so much blood!

As I wait for my ENT appointment I have been trying to follow some of these tips given to me by my primary doctor last week after a nose bleed. I really appreciated the anatomy lesson, and the ice cold drink tips and nothing too hot. That makes a lot of sense once you understand the anatomy. Thank you.

As someone the suffers from nosebleeds from using too much Flonase over a 10 year period, this was extremely helpful. I was doing quite a few things incorrectly to stop the bleeding, which sometimes lasted for a hour or more. My ENT doctor cauterized with silver nitrate, which seemed to help. But now with the dry winter months it’s back. Bleed Cease inserted in the effected nostril also seems to help. Thanks a million Doctor Veer!

I learned quite a bit! I learned about the nasal spray, avoiding hot drinks and the whole anatomy of the blood vessels. I’ve had a nosebleed that lasted over an hour, went to the emergency room and they did nothing except check my hemoglobin. Thank you so much!

I've gotten many nose bleeds, I think because of congestion due to nasal polyps. I believe hypertonic and isotonic saline nasal sprays and vaseline coating are reducing these. Out of the 10 points, I only knew #5. And I know #5 because I live in a place that gets down to -40C in winter, so 20% humidity, so it is really obvious here. Yours is perhaps the most useful YouTube channel I've come across in the past 12 months. And you have an excellent presentation style.

I got 10/10... I'm 60 and I never had a nose bleed before this past weekend... just got back from the Emergency Room a few hours ago... your video is great! - thanks from across the pond!

Fantastic advice. Better than the ER doc's advice. I'm 2 weeks post op for sinus surgery. 3 severe nosebleeds have landed me in the ER 3 times. Been sucking on ice and it seems to be mitigating the oozing while I wait for the ENT surgeon to see me.

For over 65 years I have used a method learned from a dentist to stop minor oral and ordinary nosebleeds. Soak a teabag in cold water. Use one half cotton ball to soak up some cold tea, wring out excess tea and firmly pack into the bleeding nostril. It's important to be very tender when inserting the cotton. This remedy takes less than 20 minutes.

Thank you very much for this video. I was taught incorrectly back in the early 70’s at the first aid course.
Makes sense after watching your video.

Never had a nose bleed until I was put on Plavix. The first time it happened I went to the ER because I couldnt stop the bleeding. My ENT cauterized the spot with silver nitrate but two days later it happened again, this time worse. Thanks for your video. I'll follow your tips next time!

Oh my goodness. I learnt so much. Now we can hopefully get some sleep at night without worrying so much about our daughter getting lots of nose bleeds at night

Great video, I know very little about the nose, would be fascinating to hear about medical interventions when things don't stop.

Thank you so much for this video. My daughter gets nose bleedings often. The family doc says it is because of dryness. Your tips are very useful. Thanks again.

I didn’t know about the ice in the mouth! I do not get nose bleeds but work with children who do and I think this would be very helpful for those kids who frequently get nose bleeds. I just discovered your videos today while looking for information on OSA and sleep apnea. I was diagnosed recently and have a few months to wait before getting my cpap machine. Your videos have been very helpful.
