MacBook Air M1 dual monitor setup with DisplayLink | Dixon talks tech

How to setup dual monitors (external displays) with the new MacBook Air M1 using a Dell DisplayLink D6000 Docking Station.

I use two Dell P2421D monitors. The resolution is: 2560 x 1440. I use DisplayPort connections for both monitors. The D6000 docking station has x2 DisplayPorts and x1 HDMI port on the back.

im stuggling. I have installed the software but I am still getting the two monitors mirroring the same image and my mac book showing a different screen. Can someone help please?

If you are wondering like me why it did not just work with a macbook air M2 with a Dell D6000 dock and OS Monterey automatically I had to enable the DisplayLink Manager app in the Screen Recording section of System Preferences | Security & Privacy. Then both of my extended screens started appearing automagically. I also used the latest DisplayLink Manager 1.7.1 Software and updated the Firmware of my Dell D6000 dock via a Windoze laptop to firmware version A04 (20 Aug 2021). Happy days.

I've downloaded new version, "DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity
Ventura 13, Monterey 12, Big Sur 11, Release: 1.8" but it can only detect one monitor, Is there any solution?

What’s wrong with Apple. Maybe you should stand on one foot and rub your belly prior to hooking up to a dock...M1 garbage. Fatal flaw. Everyone needs to WFH now but have option to unplug and go to office with laptop. No wonder Apple products are never used for business.

It's like I'm back in year 2000s, messing about with drivers to get monitors working. Pile of rubbish, I'll just return my mac, buy a PC and come back to 2021 again.

Thanks for such a great video and all the replies. Great Job !! If possible please advise on followin

1) D6000 specifications tell, it is suitable for usb - c. I read on other forums that if you use usb C on thurndrerbolt port, it reduces bandwidth from 40 ( or 50, ) gb to 5 gb. What does this mean and just to make sure before I buy it, I have macbook air M1, which i got yesterday with thundrbolt 3 ports, will this work with it.

2) The link of D6000 you posted towards the bottom of page have 2 HDMI and 1 Display ports. Does this mean that we can connect 3 external monitors with Air M1?

3) Is there any quality/performance difference between HDMI and display port connections of monitors?

The latest Driver DisplayLink Put out didnt work but going back a version fixed this issue on my M1 Mac, Thanks Buddy
