Summertime sampler quilt along | solids | churn dash quilt block | simple sewing

Sew along with me as I begin a new quilt called "summertime sampler". Each week I will add one more block pattern. I will be making TWO of each block.

Quilt measures approx. 41" x 51".

Fabric requirements for quilt:
light blue (background) - 2 yds
dark teal (green) - 1 yd
dark orange - 1 yd.
mustard yellow - 1 yd.

Optional quilt size - 64" x 54"
uses 2 1/2" sashing, 6" wide border
Needed - 4 1/8 yards background

block measures 9 1/2" unfinished

I can’t wait to sew along with you Beth really enjoyed making the last sampler quilt. You break the making of each block down so well it doesn’t make it feel to overwhelming. I am thinking lots of polka dot fabric x

Beth I like this block. It is a Churndash with a block in the center. I didn't know what it was called. I have a question for you. Do you just have 2 sons and a husband? Do they appreciate your sewing or not? I have 2 sons, a daughter and a husband but it is just my husband and I at home now. My daughter never was interested in learning to sew : ( Broke my heart. I sew, make clothes, quilt, crochet and embrodery. Just not her thing. Boys don't care really. If I made them a quilt they might give it to their dog to sleep on not even thinking the hours I spent making it. My husband doesn't understand cutting up material just to sew it back together again but I have explained to him he HAS to OOOO and AWWW over my things since I don't have anyone else to do it or I won't make any more cakes. He also has to act like he means it so I will think he does, Hahah! Do you resort to bribary? I will do your sew along with you, looks like fun.

Hi Beth, I feel like this is a QAL I can manage. Not too big or complex. I don’t have a lot of time to quilt these days, and still being a beginner I’m slow at cutting and sizing, and I overthink fabric choice. You have a calm demeanor and an easy approach. Thank you for all you do for us!!!
