This is an informative video. I followed these directions on a Pixel 3 XL and they worked fine. I now have 3 CalyxOS privacy phones. It does take effort but it's worth it. I took extensive notes which I'll send to anyone who has some kind of anonymous method or box.

The next big thing in OS should be Free OTA upgrades to the latest version for atleast 5 years. There should also be an option of switching to and from various versions as and when one wants to.

Great video. Decided to pull the trigger and bought a Pixel 4A. Installed easily, works great, MUCH better battery life. F-droid and Aurora work great. I have only one problem - can't download pictures or upload music to it. Both my Linux boxes and Windows 10 can see the phone when plugged in, but neither OS will let me into the phone. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate a comment. Thanks!

If I recall correctly this guide has a few pitfalls not shown because your system has already flashed a phone before which a first time user will get stuck on, and go to the comment section in desperation, I have finished flashing calyx onto a second 4a a few weeks ago, hopefully I will get around to making a likewise vid that hopefully will show a compete cold-start version of installing calyx

This has some strange bug when you setup face unlock at the start. The camera is like down shifted so, it's a pain to setup. Once it's setup though it works fine. I know my camera works fine cause I had regular Android 11 that comes with my Pixel 4 Xl prior to this.

I like how you can lock the bootloader again. I know I had a moto g4 that you could not lock the bootloader so always got the error on bootup.

How's the default Android phone app audio quality? I've heard people mentioned on the receiving end that it sounds like the person calling sounds like they're talking inside a small box. The phone audio is basically a little distorted on some Google Pixel 4a. Is this true for you?

When you install an OS like this or graphineOS is there a way to keep some apps? I ask as my banking app is a pain in the ass to move to a new phone and required you to generate codes on the old phone
