In the first one, Parker exclaims "its f'in huge"

So by that comment it grows to the size of its host.
Yes it is nonsense and is very quick and has bothered me many years but it is alien and has acid for blood ffs.

I think the alien franchise has stayed way beyond its lifespan, it relies on a suspension of disbelief to the point of utter ubsurdity.
Once this plays out over and over it becomes tiresome.
The lifecycle is done.
No matter what the speed
Time to leave it dead.
