I made the switch from Ableton to Logic Pro about 2 years ago. Still happy with it.

Logic is an incredible bang for buck. The Logic track comping system is brilliant. The native plugins range from good to great. I do hope Apple continues to keep this DAW in their catalog

As someone trying to decide which DAW I want to use, thank you!

This video just appeared on my feed so I watched it!
I've been a Pro Tools user since 2018 when I first started producing, recording and mixing and I love it.
I tested Logic Pro this year and gotta say that I want to buy it in the future.
It's just great to have it there for MIDI production.

Pro Tools today is more capable of MIDI production in general and virtual instruments management than before but I think having a second DAW just in case isn't a bad idea.
Logic Pro is the choice for me.
I tested Studio One, liked it although too cluttered.
Tested Reaper, like it but I don't want to spend a bunch of time customising it.

I needed something that comes ready right of the box and that is Pro Tools and Logic Pro for me.

Great video!

Just an FyI. That auto adjustment of the loop tempo you did at the beginning of the video was available in PT since the early 2000s. And it works the same way you did it.

It would be great if Apple brought Logic's audio editing capabilities up to Protools standard instead of keeping it in the 2000s. I'd very happily pay for the upgrade. Come on Apple. It's about time!

What i dont quite get in this debate: Has no one ever heard of Cubase or the even more powerful Nuendo? Why is it always Logic and Protools?

That's I've time stretched loops in Pro Tools for years. Some examples you give are legit, but some have me scratching my head. Of course the price can't be beat, that's for sure, but I was a Logic user(still am), after I switched from Digital Performer. Yes, Logic Pro is a fabulous DAW, but I like Pro Tools better for audio editing, it's just so straight forward, plus all of the studios that I went to have my projects professionally engineered, used Pro Tools. That being said, I'll agree with you on some parts of this video. I also have to agree with the post that says it's not superior in every way.

I haven't used ProTools in years, and never did I use it extensively. It's all Logic for me, but I think some of the "Logic is easier to understand" comes from prior experience. For example, when a friend of mine had Studio One and I jumped on to use it, I didn't find it too difficult to just pick up and use on at least a basic level. But if I hadn't been using Logic for years, and was just thrown on a DAW with no prior experience, I likely would have been lost. I remember seeing Logic for the first time, it seemed ridiculously complicated.

I am a big time logic user. I loved logic pro because it was $200 on my dollars. It was a one time purchase. Had everything i needed to do whatever i wanted + free updates and upgrades + logic remote. I got into it because it was the cheapest full version software. Albeit I had to buy a mac specifically for this. Then i loved debating in forums about why logic is better. Eventually i stumbled upon a Maschine MK3, loved it and started writing all my music on it. Then it all suddenly stopped mattering. Coz Maschine 2 is far less weaker than Logic, Protools or many other DAW, but can still produce whatever music i want, just like i would in logic but way faster. I eventually found middle ground between maschine and logic. Now my logic projects have 30 audio tracks exported from maschine and already sounding decent. Then i add sfx, fills, and the vocals on logic coz i like comping in logic, mix and master in logic. So logic is only part of my workflow and i realised it could be any DAW for that matter coz my workflow requires the DAW to do only some midi work, mostly editing, mixing and mastering. Now LUNA works just as well... In my humbe opinion, Logic Pro X is not superior to ProTools in every way. So choose the daw for ur workflow!

I am a Logic Pro user but I think Protools is a better sounding software

There is no comparison here .. Logic Pro is more focused on music production and protools is more of a recording audio editing focused software ..

Wanted to try logic from the reviews.... couldn't find it for my Wimdows PC .... seems it's only for Mac... so have to go with Pro Tools since it downloaded on my PC no problem

Protools has a long learning curve but logic is more user friendly and intuitive

Bro…you must not know protools that well. Aside from the midi fx, included vi’s and plugins plus the overall cost of pro tools…most of what you said about looping, ease of use and browser is simply not true. Logic is superior for editing midi and always has been. Protools is superior editing audio. The lines between them have blurred over the years. I can all of this as I have had them both for over 20 years. Pro tools is as easy as using Microsoft word but for audio. Logic has its own workflow that is uniq
ue to logic and different from most other daws. That could be a bad thing at times.

There is more to music production than just making beats.

If you are just starting out and making beats is your main thing the bang for the buck, logic is by far the best daw out there. However if singing or recording live instruments or actual mixing then pro tools all day.

These days the both do enough of what the other does to get the job done though.

Just keeping it 100….

IMHO, Logic is cheaper because, Apple. Apple is a $2.5 Trillion company. Avid is a $1 Billion dollar company. Apple makes tons of stuff, and they probably will not abandon Logic, but it could happen. On the other hand, Avid is about Pro Tools and unless something horrible happens, Pro Tools will be around forever. Just a philosophical thought on the topic. Use whatever DAW you know. But realize you may end up at a dead end if you need a professional studio.
