I can do these off ice. I haven't tried it yet on ice and probably won't until I get my back spin. But at least I'll know what it's supposed to feel like when I start doing them on ice.

Thank you for the side board explanation of H spring, turning kicking foot pigeon toed in, then tucking pigeon toed free leg behind spring leg (sort of like a forward inside 3-turn in air) for loop final rotation and landing on kicking leg. The way you explained it makes it logical from a physics standpoint and for transferring weight for landing. I have consistent cheated one foot landing but cannot get into the rotation position like my clean high lutz and flips, so this may be what I needed to apply. BTW, my lutz was non-existent until I watched your lutz video about a month ago. I literally landed the next day with arms overhead and never miss it--can easily land in combination now. Your detailed steps for body and mind-set are excellent.

Thanks for your video! I did figure skating from 7 to 17 and almost landed my double axel. I started skating again 2-3 years ago and I am stuck at my axel. I am almost 44 and let me say, our stupid brain knows that failing hurt! Lol I can't wait to try your tips and see if it can help me! Especially the shoulder part. I tend to start square. I think I will work on some exercises you showed as well. Fingers crossed!

Another great video from Jasmin. I have a question on the leg and foot providing the jump power, I know you have to down the knee to provide unloading the power for any jump. What exercises can strengthen muscles for jumping And Landing. Thanks Jasmin. If no answer no issues, your very busy person. Cheers

When i did ice skating years ago I started out spinning and jumping the normal way (anti clockwise) then when trying to do back spina discovered i rotate better clock wise. But by then i felt comfortable taking off in the anti clockwise direction, especially for a waltz jump. So my coach felt it would be better to have a good take off in the direction i dont naturally rotate in, than a terrible take off in the direction I do rotate in.
I never managed to do an axel, i think the closest i got at the time was what someone else called a 'bell'? Jump? Basically one revolution and the landing double foot and doing the last half revolution on two feet. Many many years later i am thinking of taking ice skating lessons again, and while it will be a looong time before i am even ready to attempt an axel, i was wondering whether anyone out there who skates and can do an axel has any opinions on whether when i get to that point, i should try an axel on the direction i learnt to waltz jump in which right now feels much more comfortable to me. Or whether i should instead maybe spend time learning to do a waltz jump in the direction I spin till i feel as comfortable doing a waltz jump that way, and then when/if (as a middle aged woman) i get to the point where i can try an axel again, I can take off in the direction I spin?
The reason i ask this as watching videos which talk about doing a waltz jump and scratch spinning afterward. And i cant really do the scratch spin in the direction i would waltz jump right now. I used to be able to do one foot spins that direction as i started doing them that way in lessons, but i switched once I realised I actually spin clockwise

So basically what do you think is most important? Good entry into the jump? Or doing the jump in the direction i naturally spin in and learning to take off in that direction?

When i last skated my skating was a sort of mongrel combo of clockwise and anti clockwise, ie toe loops, waltz and I think flip jumps were anti clockwise and i think loops, lutz were clockwise, all my spins were clockwise and the axel was where neither way felt right...

Not sure sure why i spin clockwise, if it is a left handed thing, I am right handed, lol
