Disturbed's 'Sound of Silence' Reaction - My Jaw Hit the Floor at That Bridge!

I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard Disturbed's powerful cover of "Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel. As soon as the song built up to that iconic bridge, my jaw literally dropped in stunned disbelief. The raw emotion and chilling vocals gave me goosebumps all over. Now my authentic reaction is going viral, thanks to Disturbed's haunting rendition that reinvents this 60's classic into a modern rock epic. The melody and meaning still resonate just as strongly decades later!

Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song at a time when the tv was taking over the home. People no longer talked at the dinner table, they watched tv while they ate and the tv was becoming the electric baby sitter. They were warning us not to ignore each other. Disturbed is the reality we have today. People talking without speaking...they text. Hearing without listening...they read what others write on their phones. No one wants to disturb the sound of silence by actually interacting with another person. And the neon god we made? The Smart phone. A whole generation has lost the art of being social with each other and that is the fulfillment of Simon and Garfunkel's warning and the rage for this loss is Disturb's version.

Such a GREAT cover, so well-done that Paul Simon himself liked it. :)

One of the few cover songs that I like more than the original (and I love Simon and Garfunkel) LB. Every time you said "He's holding back", I couldn't help but think, You haven't seen anything yet... Loved your reaction..

That reaction was absolutely perfect, it’s always amazing to see someone who is a vocalist see a singer perform

1:50 "I feel like he's holding back. Like there's gonna be more to the sound of his voice than this." Buckle up Buttercup because you have no idea what's about to happen. 5:08... I told ya.

David Draiman... geeze, I never get tired of listening to him! He has one of the best male vocals on the planet. Amazing control, range, power and tone! He can even put vibrato on his distortion which is incredibly difficult to do! Great reaction Liberty.

"Save our Last Goodbye" is THE most underrated Disturbed song.
Someone close to him is dying of cancer and he's dealing with the pain of having to say goodbye.
This song gives me chills

David Draiman, the lead singer, has a powerful and unique voice. The band has been around for quite a long time, since the 1990"s. Many of their songs are a lot heavier than this, but if you would like another ballad, I would suggest one off of their latest album, "Don't Tell Me" featuring the great Ann Wilson. There is a new music video that was released a short time ago that is lovely.

This band is not a one hit wonder. Disturbed is one of the best bands there is. The messages they tell with their songs are second to only maybe Metallica. There are a few songs I will recommend. All three carry deep meaning with them and one of them is dark as a for warning. Inside the Fire is the one that is dark, but the message is very profound. The light is a song that has saved many lives and I jest you not. Last is Don't tell me with Ann Willson it carries a message that is hard to put into words. I have come to accept that Disturbed is capable of putting messages in all of their songs when it might have otherwise not happened with other artists. Every song of Disturbed's has meant something to everyone that has listened to them. I can't even come close to giving enough praise to them for all they have done.

Love your reaction! I do not call this a cover song. It is an experience and stands on its own merit. Cover or not, Doesnt matter i. It is its own power and emotion. If you don't get chills, or emotional or tears then there is something seriously wrong with you. He goes from a voice of Angel wings fluttering to a growl that grabs your soul. We are 77 and 80. Tears and goosebumps each time we listen. David Draiman possesses an impressive vocal range that spans over three octaves, ranging from a low of E2 to a high of C6. Amazing!

Disturbed bring such deep power into this timeless classic, it's disturbingly empowering.
I'm glad you're experiencing this rendition!

To get the full range of Disturbed you need to listen to Down with the Sickness, Hey you, The Light, Hold on yo Memories, Reason to fight, Never Again, Stupify.... The list goes on and on

I wish Disturbed did other classics with such amazing vocal range, but everything else I've heard thus far has been either headbanging noise that gives me a headache or simply not as impressive to me as their stunningly perfect performance of the Sound of Silence.

This song live, is amazing! He had a bit of an off night with the low parts in the beginning when I saw Disturbed last month, but once he got into his grittiness, he shined and it was majestic!

That was an exceptional baritone (God's gift), plus years and years of shaping it. Long years of hard work. Now, we can enjoy the effects.
