There are plenty of covers of just about every song you can think of, but VERY FEW of the artists that have done covers have truly made the song they've covered their own. This man is one of the few!

Psychologists would have a field day observing and examining the body language of you three and a few utterances that were made. The left. Arms folded throughout, only one or two instances of emotions while watching but did feel open to saying that she felt good about the song and singer. Middle. Stayed stoic at first and then leaned in far and lowered his brow when the singer unleashed the raspy heavy lyrics. Right. looked calm and then looked at ease and then almost erotically excited with the deeper tones of the singer. All in all, I would say the singer and the musicians did their jobs well.

The band was there. The man on the large drums behind him was the band's drummer, the piano player was the lead guitarist, the other guitarist was playing guitar. Then they had the orchestra surrounding them of course.

I love Mum's little smirk right before "And the people bowed and prayed". She knew what was coming ❤

This was a big surprise because Disturbed is a heavy metal band and this song wasn't really what people expected

David Dramian was trained to be a Cantor when he was a child. He has an incredible vocal range as demonstrated by this song. Very intelligent and well read person. This Conan video and the original video release have been viewed over a billion times. After this performance, Paul Simon messaged him and told him he approved of this version.

Disturbed is a very heavy metal band that’s been around for a while now. We took our 16yr. Old Daughter to see them live in Memphis. My husband has always been a die hard country music fan but we were right in front. We were all blown away! It was so powerful, we are all tremendous fans! They are also very spiritual and that’s a big plus to me.♥️

Is this the famous British reserve we've all heard about? Tears were running down my face as were other reviewers I've watched from countries everywhere. This song touches peoples' souls. Well, most.

When people don't get it they just don't get. You can't convince people that what they hear is good

Seen Disturbed 6x live. Mostly at music festivals. Many do not realize how amazing lead singer David Draiman's voice is. Him & Brent Smith from Shinedown had the 2 best voices I've heard live

When you know the story behind the lyrics that Simone and Garfunkel wrote this version becomes even more chilling considering the times I which we live.

As someone who has lived with a debilitating stammer for many years, this song cuts so deep to people who struggle to communicate like myself.
One of the most beautiful songs of all time.

Love disturbed version! 🙌❤

Disturbed is a heavy metal band from Chicago, Illinois, USA formed around 1994 and singer David Draiman joined in 1996. David had actually been a cantor at his synagogue in the past...to end up in heavy metal was a jump for sure. Then for this heavy metal band to come out with this remake of Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel...wow. The original meaning of the song (written during a time of a lot of unrest and change in 1960s USA) was about people being unable to effectively communicate with each other, especially on an emotional level and kind of a warning of the effect if it didn't change. Fast forward to now and the meaning is even more profound and true today, and this version by Disturbed is driving that point (the music video is really good....but the intense emotionality of David's voice in this live performance is so much more). People have said that Paul Simon's version was the warning, and this song was the anger because no one listened. When they did this live performance, David was very, very sick with flu, which is why he was sitting, too sick to stand. To be able to sing and perform like this while so sick is a testament to his incredible and beautiful baritone voice.

He had really bad flu when he sang this which made it even more incredible, and you can hear two bits of auto tune. David went mental when he got backstage because it was used without his consent

I've watched his official music video, and I have to say, this live performance on Conan was far superior. My god, the way he holds the notes and croons only to end it with that growling delivery near the end. You can literally feel the visceral pulse of the beast coming through those final lines, only to end on the softest notes with the last line. It is mesmerizing and full of enthrallment. It's like he's weaving magic with each note instead of singing lyrics. And that drummer accompaniment to the very end is just the cherry on top.

Simon and Garfunkle did folk-type music. Some of their songs were very lightly rock-ish, like Bridge Over Troubled Water, sorta, but Scarborough Fair is pure folk, frex. Disturbed is a *very* heavy rock band -- check out Down With the Sickness for something that's more their usual thing -- and their harder, rougher, and by the end angrier version of Sound of Silence is completely awesome. David is a classically trained vocalist, and his voice is amazing.

The best cover of any song ever, period.
