Starting a bolt with a swivel and an impact is crazy...

These brilliant engineers really need to start putting their names on these parts so we can start giving them credit for their ignorance! We all know they're getting rewarded for their stupidity from the big wigs in the corporate office and getting cussed out by every technician who ever picked up a wrench!

I never had trouble but I was part of the recall for transmission computer reprogramming. To prevent the transmission from jumping from 6 to 1st speed while a freeway speed.

I still hate electronically controlled transmissions. I want one that does not learn or think, but does what I want right now. The old heavy duty AOD did the trick very well indeed. It was also a million mile transmission

LEAD ("leed") as in, "wire lead"... lead frame. '16 F150... decided to be proactive on this one after a couple of Wrench Lights on the dash and "limp home" mode... 58, 000 miles. Couldn't find a lead frame anywhere so I bought an entire FoMoCo 6R80 valvebody, new, because it comes with a new lead frame. With the cannon plug, a transfer tube, filter and fluid, I paid $900 bucks. Dealer labor was another $900 because the finished install required programming (and I was not up for yet another ATF shower). $1800 out of pocket... perhaps one day I will produce the receipts for some portion of any class action settlement. Who knows. At least I can drive my truck and it's not sitting in a dealer service lot for 10 weeks.

Did that replacement last weekend. Easy job and used the Dorman part because the motorcraft part is on back order for atleast 8 months.

You never start the pan bolts with a impact wrench.one rule hand start.then use a torque wrench to tighten to specs.

I also replace that plastic and rubber block that passes the fluid between the pump and the valve body. I’ve seen those split wide open. Also the piece that the main connector passes through that has new o-rings. You’re right there and the parts are cheap compared to the labor.
That’s one of my biggest gripes about dealer techs is they go diving way into whatever it is and just replace the one single part that’s gone bad and slap. Everything else back in with seemingly no thoughts about longevity or the future. Not to mention the starting of bolts with the impact and probably not torquing anything….

p0722! Got one to do tomorrow. A few years back the leadframe was on backorder, we sold a lot of valve bodies instead.

Weve replaced alot of these cause the output speed sensor would stop reading

We can never get the lead frame by itself. Its always on backorder. The whole valve body with lead frame, however, is always in stock.

Engineers never overcomplicate anything 🤔

Just had to do the lead frame/valve body on my 15 expedition. 246k miles and it had never been replaced. Not bad!

Far be it for for me, but... is it molded plastic or lead? Or, is it possibly a molded plastic frame carrying electrical leads (leeds).

556k miles in and thankfully no issues 🎉

I was driving down the interstate when my 2017 f150 started randomly shifting gears, Nearly caused me to get rear ended. Ford told me that they dont have a lot of issues reported to the nation highway safety reporting concerns over the issue.

The recall only covers up to certain amount of miles though right? I have this problem but I have something like 240, 000 mi
