Okay, I grew up in NB and here is my take on what defines the East Coast as separate in stereotypes:

Nova Scotia: lighthouses, Scottish people, oatcakes, blueberries, sailing, New Brunswick but cooler and less poor (and not French)

New Brunswick: sea food, acadians, loyalists, so many trees, ticks, poor, fiddleheads, the prettiest province (fight me!)

PEI: potatoes, cows (the company), the sea dirt, Anne of Green Gables, tourists and like 50 locals, potatoes

Newfoundland & Labrador: vikings, colourful houses, shit weather, funny accents, lively despite sad weather

And we’re all way too nice and our gatherings ALWAYS take place in the kitchen

Would you say Alberta is the Canadian version of Texas? Especially with both areas having Cowboys, and oil.

Provinces described for my fellow Americans...

1) British Columbia= The Canadian Washington. All that weed!

2) Alberta= Canadian Texas, Oil, Religious and Conservative. What more evidence do you need?

3) Saskatchewan= Canadian Ohio. Maybe a mix of Indiana in there.

4) Manitoba= Canadian Minnesota. Nothing else to say. It’s Manitoba after all!

5) Ontario= Canadian New York, with the attitude to prove it!

6) Quebec= Canadian Louisiana but more French and these Frenchies don’t surrender!

7) Newfoundland and Labrador= Canadian Massachusetts but more Irish

8) New Brunswick= Canadian Connecticut. Because Canadian Massachusetts was already taken

9) Nova Scotia= Canadian Maine. All that Lobster!

10) Prince Edward Island= Canadian Hawaii with the attitude of New Jersey

Definitely a one sided rivalry. As someone from Ontario, I’ve never heard of anyone here that dislikes British Columbia. Most people here love it.

You forgot to say that there's also a lot of french speakers in New Brunswick about 40% of people there speak french as a matter of fact a lot of them live between New Brunswick and Quebec

Manitoba has bad weather. Amen. - 40 in the winter time, usually always snowing. +40 in the summertime with near tropical humidity, if it isn't raining.

Lakes are nice though.

Here's a Canadian joke I heard years ago in Cleveland, Ohio: Two Newfoundlanders are discussing the Quebec Separatist movement.
One says: "Doesn't seem like it would make much difference to us if Quebec weren't part of Canada any more..."
The other replies: "The H-- you say! It'd cut hours off the drive to Toronto."

Other stereotypes of Ontario could have been "bagged milk and egocentric."
