The Senate Homeland Security Committee and its Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a joint interim report in their investigation of the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting Wednesday that responsibilities weren’t clearly defined ahead of the July 13 rally and that personnel they interviewed who were responsible for planning have “deflected blame.” Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., joins Morning Joe to discuss.

They were probably ordered not to mess up his hair, so none of them touched his head.

ABC actually put the word failure in scare quotes in their headline. The press is utterly shameless and biased. Kudos for having Blumenthal on.

I would love to know, how his ear healed so quickly? I worked at a hospital doing wound care and I have never seen anyone heal that quickly! Within a few days, I just don’t believe that he was hit by a bullet . I’m not saying he wasn’t shot at but was he really hit?

Like Lady Lady Gaga's dogwalker who was almost shot dead and was discounted in the social media as collateral damage, over concern for a distressed Lady Gaga and her distressed dogs, Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed, and others who were critically injured, in Butler, have been completely sent down the memory hole ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finally, someone mentions the ridiculous stuff after the shots were fired. He shouldve been gone in less than a minute. The one camera angle ive seen from behind the stage appears to show Trump waving the photographer into position for the "iconic" photo. Something is fishy and that personal detail definitely could be compromised.

I think the SS did just as good a job protecting tRump as tRump did as president protecting the American people.

Trump knows his head, being empty, was one of his least vulnerable spots. But, doesn’t he get some choice in his team? He prefers “loyalty” to proficiency.

Stunning failure? Kind of a weird thing to say unless you're mad it was a failure...

Maybe they just weren't trying very hard to protect Trump. I certainly wouldn't. LOL most people wouldn't.

I’m shocked to see msnbc actually covering this appropriately.

It was a show. Not a lack of training.

Even actor Harrison Ford who played a POTUS twice got it right.

Yes, Joe, you're perfectly correct. It was a "stunning failure" and a "failure in training". Who taught this guy how to shoot? Why, in God's name, did he miss?
