Behind These Prison Walls Podcast Intro

We cannot afford to lose another generation to incarceration. How can we avoid the prison system? To avoid the system we have to educate individuals about the system. The Behind These Prison Podcast uses a platform to educate and inform viewers about devastating effects and consequences of breaking the law. The Podcast show will use the experts; the formerly incarcerated, corrections officers including state, local and federal. Their stories and testimonies will be used to deter youth from behaviors that could lead to incarceration. Former Correction Officer Lorenzo Steele Jr. shares his experience and knowledge while working in the nations most violent adolescent jail on Rikers Island. The experience takes place from 1987-1999 the bloodiest years in Rikers Island history. Lorenzo, a photographer captured Rikers Island with his camera and now uses art as a medium to deter youth from the damaging effects of incarceration.
