determining my direction with the shadow dont work on pc. atleast not now. I've tried with all my graphic settings turned all the way up and my ships shadow is always directly under my ship regardless

I realize this is not the same as the poles you reach by using the flight computer data, i mean by going to 90, -90 latitude, I was supposedly on the north pole or south pole according to the planet marker in the discoveries screen, but the sun was flying right over my head
Then I used your method and ended at what would be the planets equator or coordinates 0, -90
What in tarnation ?

So..the north pole and south pole of a planet isn't at the 90 / -90 degree coordinates [technically]? Also, can you explain to me the whole "shadow" thing. your shadow at noon behind as minimal is a sign you are nearest the sunny pole spot?

I only recently realized eternal sunshine was a thing in nms. I hate putting up lighting, so I needed this tutorial. Much appreciated :)
