Orangutans and Computers — Understanding the Intelligence of Great Apes

Azy, a male orangutan at the Indianapolis Zoo, and Dr. Rob Shumaker, the Zoo's President, are working together to help people experience the incredible intelligence of these great apes. All the Zoo's orangutans have opportunities to participate in computer learning demonstrations, and by seeing and appreciating apes in a new way, guests can add their voices to orangutan conservation efforts.

male orangutans such as this one develop face flanges and look very fat as they age. it makes them look very powerful and majestic. but not all male orangutans develop face flanges. the intelligence exhibited by orangutans is amazing.

They are simply amazing. We are so proud to have them as our representatives of what they are capable of being. We tend to underestimate all animals. God bless all of them and their care givers. Can you train my grandson. Just kidding. Like all animals he is a work in progress.
