Galaxy Map Tips You Should Know | Beginner Guide to No Man's Sky 2018

This is a beginner guide for the Galaxy map in No Man's Sky. This actually hasn't changed much at all but I haven't seen anyone go over the basics of the map. Most of you will know most of these tips, but I want to make sure everyone knows the basics. Again, this might change in a future patch so keep you eye on that comment box and look out for more recent videos on my channel.

When I was trading the trade goods I always had the economy type filter. When I am ship hunting I use the lifeform filter, Gek for haulers in high economy systems and Vy'keen for fighters in high economy systems, never hunted for explorer type ships but Korvax for those ships, more chance of getting S class ships in high economy systems. Took me ages to find the back button on free explore, always use that now, my hauler can do over 2000 LY's each jump and the "line" explore is too restrictive. Wish I had this type of video when I first started NMS :)

Thanks, Jason! This vid is good nearly 2 years later! Been playing since 2/20 and couldn't figure out why almost all of my red star systems where showing -Data Unavailable-. Now I know. No space station and/ or completely uncharted territory. Guess I can keep out of those systems since I'm only looking for Wealthy systems... And this is why I'm subscribed to your channel. Get all my important NMS info. ♥

Point of information: The systems that have no information are uncharted, and have no space station. I don't BELIEVE that it has anything to do with what scanner modules you have available. You get at least the dominant race information for systems that have stations in. I THINK you also get the economy and conflict levels for systems that you've visited (which are marked with a subtle ring around the star in the galactimap.)

I find hard to navigate back to your home galaxy. Bc they don't exactly have a easy to find it and shows you the easiest path. Any tips?

I don’t know how to follow the way points in space. I can set way point but soon as I back out into my ship, there’s no direction I can follow, there’s no markers or indication of which direction to start flying in!!!
