if you do it successfully, you get an opportunity to do a visceral attack

makes sense tbh. I think if someone did a full powered swing and hit the dagger with the middle to lower middle section of the blade, it would be much closer to what the commenter envisioned.

I appreciate the caveman speech to help my dumbass figure it out, “my strong beats your weak”

Just having a basic understanding of levers helps a lot understanding the physics of many weapons, very true.

The tip is weak for constant pressure but during the swing it's where the most momentum is. Speed = D/T. The sword creates an arc so the outer part travels further is the same amount of time so speed is higher

Momentum = 1/2M x V^2 soo you want to catch near the middle of the blade and deflect momentum away from you

It's crazy how these people are just trying to tell people the mechanics of a dagger parry and 30% of comments are about the girls ass💀

the thing about the dagger is it has a soul gem, and captures the souls of those it defeats in battles, forever strengthening the blade

Let's remember momentum
So, when the person with a sword actually strikes, tip is the last thing you want to block, regardless of "leverage"
The closer you are to the handle, the slower it is

Where is the *Dum* sound?
You parry her smoothly

If you notice the geometry of the main daggar, the quillions act as a trap for the incoming blade.

The arm, and by extension the sword, is a third class lever, so blocking closer to the attacker would actually be more helpful. Considering the dagger is shorter as well, there's less transfer, as an attack at the very tip would be one of the strongest.

Parrying daggers were also predominantly used to parry rapiers arming swords/back swords/hangers, not longswords. They began phasing in alongside the popularity of thrust-centric civil dueling swords.

Yes and no. This is true in a static situation, like in a bind *after* a parry occurred, but a striking blade is an accelerating body and acceleration gets greater further alway from the hands. So depending on the speed and mass of the sword's blade an attempt to block with the second half of the dagger's blade can still result in a weak parry.
