I've been asked about my writing process as a composer for film and television and so here it is. Whether it's for a film score or my own personal music I follow these two steps. It's really step 2 that has made the biggest difference in my work as a professional musician. What a great session. The part about writing to sound sophisticated really hits home with me. I write cues for PM libraries and I think my biggest challenge is getting bogged down in too many notes and taking too long to finish a piece. hi, how can i set the music in the back of a podcast?. i think u do it really good i have issues to get that, when i insert the music on the video its in the front or low at volume. But the music in your videos its in the right spot. And how can i chose the right tempo?Sorry my english

Hey Jonas! Once again very helpful advice, thank you very much! I think the second step is the far more difficult one, at least as far as I'm concerned as an aspiring media composer. Always keeping the story in mind as the most important element of the process and supporting it in the best way possible is a skill that takes a lot of work to master. If we are musicians first and foremost, as I am, we have to be careful not to be too self-regarding in our music and to keep our permeability/openness and thus our team spirit for the filmmakers' vision. I think "Killing the darlings", as it is also known from screenwriting, applies here in scoring and producing as well, since the story is in the foreground, and not our music, most of the time anyway. How was/is the experience for you in terms of "how much is too much" in each project? And how long did it take you to develop a more confident sense of that? By the way, I really like your musical work—super creative ideas that sound extremely good! 🧡 Best regards from Berlin, Frank
