Kings of Ruin is a new stand-alone story campaign from the team behind the acclaimed Tainted Grail board game, set in the same universe. Playable with a brand new set of exciting characters, it continues the stories of Fall of Avalon, Last Knight, and Age of Legends while also providing a perfect self-contained entry into the saga for new players.

During your experience with the game, you will explore new land (with a totally changed system of traveling through Wyrdness), solve encounters with force or diplomacy with a unique puzzle card system, and develop your heroes with new passive skills, cards, and powerful items.

Most importantly, you will discover a dark immersive story of abandoned land on the wrong side of Avalon and Kings of Ruin ruling there:
Claudyne, the Unknighted.
Amberqueen Veneda.
Nonus, Bishop of the Deep.

nice review. watched this with about 3 hours left in the campaign. decided to back the 99.99 level. i'd love to get one of the crazier pledges but i think the lowest entry will supply more than enough content than i will ever have time for.

Never had a problem being able to do *something* with my hand during an encounter, either damage or damage mitigation. I assume they also still have the rule that you can discard your whole hand and draw that number of cards minus one? Might be more of a problem if you're playing with one character. Playing with two (or more) you can plan who should go first so you can play off the cards they've played.

Ya know, you do some of the best informative content in the business. Great attention to detail in presenting your thoughts about the game. "Story-time with Bryan" cracked me up. This the best review of the game I’ve seen. I got the all-in first edition and sold it after playing 5 chapters for all the reasons you outlived. On the other hand, Oathsworn is amazing!

After a fortnight of back and forth, I finally pledged. It was the combat system that held me back as it doesn't enthrall me as maybe something like Gloomhaven does. What finally swayed me was the adventure side and that if be playing solo, so the combat, reading and downtime aren't really a concern.
Playing this will feel like coming full circle, as I started my gaming days back in the early 80's with the Warlock of Firetop Mountain game books. :)
Also, I easily made it to the end, so i guess i get to... 🐺
