As I understand it they changed it from the campaign where it were a seperete box for the stretch goals to be in the box instead. They did miss to add the black goat if you added that one for a bunch of bunch of backers tho, it's suppose to come later for me

To answer your question on if you can play Kings of Ruin before Fall of Avalon. Absolutely, dive right in.
Just be aware that Kings of Ruin plays differently (for the better Imo) than Fall of Avalon.
