My Story:
For those new diabetics here, I was diagnosed a little over five years ago, and am known as an insulin dependent diabetic, LADA which stands for, latent autoimmune diabetes in adults. I am a proud owner of a broken pancreas. I double checked my warranty, and it said ONLY good for one million grams of glucose.

So not only am I a diabetic like all of you, but I also have a University B.Sc, degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. So I was able to use my vast knowledge in nutrition to help guide me through these new rough and tumultuous waters.

No one said being a diabetic was going to be easy, because it is not. Though my practical knowledge, experience, and education, I hope to help motivate and guide you on the same path to becoming a well controlled and a healthy diabetic.

Thanks Jay, great video! I tried over a dozen of the big name whey protein powders and always have a problem with bloat because of my lactose intolerance. What are your thoughts on the bone broth protein powders?

Great information - more than I've learned from my dr's - I thought I would add protein powder to making smoothies, for a breakfast "meal" since I really don't feel hungry until around 11 am or so - anyway, I thought you added protein powder TO fruit juice, frozen fruit, maybe a half frozen banana, etc. - using a base of greek low-fat plain yogart - but after seeing your video, I'm concerned that my idea of a breakfast smoothie is way off - I'm not interested in building muscle, per se, as in body-building. And I'm a passive exerciser - I don't want to work out, and I'm being honest. I'm just a senior citizen recently diagnosed with Diabetes2 who is more interested in feeling full, losing some weight by watching what I eat, cutting out basically all carbs & sugars, ease of use in making a smoothie shake with the correct ingredients that don't make you gain weight or spike blood sugar. Any suggestions? and thank you, in advance - I am watching all your videos, because your info really makes sense and your presentation is non-preachy and easy to understand...

When I use a protein powder, I have found the best ones are Dymatize ISO-100 and AllMax Nutrition as the best whey protein isolates. I use it and add fats, putting this organic butter powder in it, or keto cream cheese powder and blend it up with ice. It is fantastic

Hi! I am planning on buying an 86% unflavored fast digesting protein isolate with 2 grams of carbs and no added sugar for my father and an 80% unflavored micellar slow digesting protein with 1 grams of carbs and no added sugars.

The idea is for him to take the isolate between meals during the day and the micellar before bedtime. I think this combination would also help him with sarcopenia, since he's 75. Is this the right approach?

Or should I play it safe and get him the slow-digesting micellar and have him to take one during the day and one before bedtime?

Please help with this issue. I was surprised you recommended whey because I was told whey raises insulin and spikes insulin very fast, so I am not using my whey and have been using Garden of Life organic protein powder since it has only 2 carbs and no sugar, however, it's made with sprouted seeds and grains. I am not concerned with seeds but since I no longer eat grains it seems wrong to use them in protein powder. I don't want to give up shakes though. Please What is your opinion on this Jay? Thank you :))

I'm not diabetic but I'm concerned about the connection between increased blood sugar and high blood sugar to increased protein intake. My problem is because I'm new to purchasing supplement I don't know what's considered a popular brand. Most retail
places ie. GNC try to sell their brand or a brand that they get a kick back from. I would love for you to do a video about popular brands.

Just found out I have diabetes a few days ago. I would read the label myself and make a determination but I am still sorting through all the info vs mis-info. Have you heard of ka'chava? And would you use it? I think it's pretty new and can't find any information on it anywhere.
