Figure Status Update - Dynamic Walking

Figure is an AI Robotics company building general purpose humanoid robots.

We are excited to officially unveil the Figure 01 robot and demonstrate dynamic bipedal walking - a feat that our team was able to accomplish in 12 months. Our goal is to develop a robot that moves through the world in a natural human-like way to enable the robot to work successfully in many human environments.

The first step in creating a humanoid figure that can mimic human-like gait is to place actuators in the legs at the correct locations, and then train the figure to coordinate the movement of its legs, torso, and hips, while maintaining its balance.

manufacturing humanoid robots in an assembly line would be a pretty darn serious breakthrough, and it could have a major impact on the global economy and society.

While this may look cooler, I think a robot with wheels and grabbing arms like in assembly line factories may be easier to use and could move around a warehouse a lot faster.

Still interesting but hopefully with AI involved they won’t over time and development become self aware or we’ll be on our way to our own demise!

It's amazing to see how fast things are changing . But it still looks like a 100 year old nanny walking. I hope to see figure walk like an athlete.

Start by training the figure to stand on one leg while the other leg is either fully flexed or extended. Once the figure is able to stand on either one leg, you can begin to train it to walk in a human-like manner.
