Here is the TRUE LAVENDER, Lavandula angustifolia, Lavender is native to the mountainous zones of the Mediterranean where it grows in sunny, stony habitats. Today, it flourishes throughout southern Europe, Australia, and the United States. Lavender is a heavily branched short shrub that grows to a height of roughly 60 centimeters (about 24 inches). Its broad rootstock bears woody branches with upright, rod like, leafy, green shoots. A silvery down covers the gray green narrow leaves, which are oblong and tapered, attached directly at the base, and curled spirally. So if you like this video don't forget to LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE!

Lavandula angustifolia (lavender most commonly true lavender or English lavender, though not native to England; also garden lavender, common lavender, narrow-leaved lavender), formerly L. officinalis, is a flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia etc. English lavender is commonly grown as an ornamental plant. It is popular for its colourful flowers, its fragrance, and its ability to survive with low water consumption. It does not grow well in continuously damp soil and may benefit from increased drainage provided by inorganic mulches such as gravel. It does best in Mediterranean climates similar to its native habitat, characterised by wet winters and dry summers. It is fairly tolerant of low temperatures and is generally considered hardy to USDA zone 5. It tolerates acid soils but favours neutral to alkaline soils, and in some conditions it may be short-lived.

Thank you for such a great informative video. 🙏🏽 I’ve got seeds that say ‘true lavender.’ Can i grow them in a container? Will they flower the same year I sow them? Thank you so much!

I planted some last year and they died over the winter. Here in Colorado the summers can be so extremely hot and dry. Am I right to plant them on mounds and in full sun? Appreciate any suggestions!
